Gillian Tolfrey - Is a singer and fiddle player from Jarrow on Tyneside. She is a musician steeped in the Irish and French traditions and has grown up in and around the vibrant Irish scene in newcastle upon tyne. with regular trips to North-West Ireland and the Massif central regions of France. Her vocal style is envied throughout the north-east and her fiddle playing has been described as "Tommy peoples on acid!". Gillian was a founder member of the Bill Jones trio and is now a member of all female folk song sensation 'The Witches of Elswick'. She is heavily influenced by the fiddle playing of Cathal Hayden and the singing of Mairead ni Mhaonaigh and Triona ni Dhomnaill. |
