Tom Oakes - Is a flute and whistle player from the small Devonshire town of Totnes. He has been playing Irish music from an early age and been a regular visitor to the Cuil Aodha region of West Cork since the age of fifteen, where he has learnt from the playing of flautists Conal o'Grada and Hammy Hamilton as well as picking up tunes in regular sessions with the likes of Seamus Begley, Connie O'Connell and Patsy Broderick to name but a few. Tom has played briefly with fusion band 'Waulk Elektrik' and gigged and recorded with Mike Cosgrave a founder member of London based band 'Sin e'. Tom's influences are many, but main ones include Jean Michel-Veilloin, Conal O'Grada, Packie Duignan, and Jazz flautist Herbie Mann. |
