Rufus The Civil War Dog
Hi.  My name is Rufus, and this little corner of cyberspace is where I've brought my humans to have some fun with our travels.  As the title suggests we're all interested in the American Civil War.  I think my humans would be considered Civil War buffs, or nuts, whichever description fits.:)   Over the past 9 years they've traveled with me all over the country visiting Civil War sites.  I'm the handsome, intelligent looking black and white dog n the picture in the upper left hand corner.  The other dog is my sister, Kelly.  She's a bit of a ditz, but she's lovable and fun and she has traveled with us for the last year.  One of my humans, is with us in the picture at the bottom.  That's Dad.  He walks us and plays with us, drives the car and takes most of the pictures.   I'd love to drive the car, but dad won't let me.:)  Mom is always with us when we travel, which is good because she feeds us!  I don't think dad is too good with the can opener.
These pictures are in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania as are most of the pictures here.  That's because mom and dad got a digital camera last year and haven't been to all the places we've seen since they got it.  They also don't have a scanner.  We do have lots of pictures from our trips through Virginia and Tennesee and if we can get them scanned we'll get some on the site.  Later this year we're planning another Virginia trip, so there will be more.  Anyway,  here we're standing on Cemetary Ridge, which if you know anything about the battle of Gettysburg is a very important place in American history.  I'll explain all that as we go.
What I'd like to do here is to show you a photographic tour of the Gettysburg National Park, with a little history thrown in for each of the battle's three days.  We can do the same thing at Antietam, as we have been there with the digital camera.  There's some travel information about Gettysburg and Civil War book reviews .  Dad's into that.  Oh, one more thing before we start.  I'm new at this web page building thing, so keep in mind, I'm just the dog.:) Also, I think I've gotten all the facts straight, but you know how we dogs can be.  To get around the site use the arrows on the left, or use the "NEXT" button to get to the next page and the "BACK" button to return here.  If any page doesn't load, or if you get a message from the Geocities folks saying a page is "not viewable at this time", just hit your relaod button.  It works.
