Bias Cut Strips

==============

    Cutting on the bias is a time consuming effort, but one that will reward you with wefts that pack extremely well, resulting in less overall shrinkage in the weft.  I use bias cut strips when weaving with very thin strips...under 3/4" wide.  I really like the way I can bundle them and maintain the ability to pack them well into the rug.  I also prefer the way they turn the corners on the rugs edges.

   One can, of course, weave rag rugs with strips cut either with the grain or cross grain, and each way has its advantages and disadvantages.  As with so many weaving related questions, the answers usually starts with "it depends"......in this case it depends on the finished look and more particularly the finished feel you desire in your rug.
