| Charlie Bone |
![]() |
| Charlie Bone is a boy that went through life with an odd set of aunts and an antisocial uncle until one day his three great aunts and grandmother gave him a lot of photographs to look at. That was the start of Charlie's picture traveler powers. His grandmother and aunts insisted that he go to a prestigious school where others of his kind, the Endowed. As one of the Children of the Red King, he is constantly thrust into situations caused by others of thier ilk, usually headed by the Bloor family. Charlie gets into trouble a lot with the Bloors and others, trying to stop them from causing so much damage to the rest of the Red King's children. Thankfully, he has friends inside the school and they help out when he's in too deep to save himself. Charlie also has a wand that was given to him by Skarpo the magician, who was an apprentice of his anscestor Mathonwy the Welsh wizard. The wand was burned by Manfred Bloor and now is in the shape of a white moth with silver tipped wings. |
| Emma Tolly |
![]() |
| Emma Tolly is the only child of a man that was targeted by the Bloors for her possible ablities. She can turn herself into any bird she can think of. When the Bloors took her, to keep them from taking her, Lyell Bone, Charlie's father, tried to stop them and became as hypnotized as Emma became by Manfred Bloor. Charlie Bone figured out who Emma was and found a strange box with a suit of armor in it that had the sound of a church organ playing and church bells tolling. The box brought Emma Tolly back from being hypnotized and went to live with her aunt, Julia Ingledew, a bookstore owner. Emma is descended from the knight from Toledo who gave the Red King his daughter in marriage, so she is related to all the children of the Red King. |
| Fidelio Gunn |
![]() |
| Fidelio Gunn is one of several children in the Gunn household that is musically inclined, except that he is a virtuoso, a musical genius that can pick up any instrument and play it without formal lessons. He is the first person from Bloor's Academy that he meets and is the one that first teaches Charlie to play the trumpet enough to get by in his trumpet lessons at school. (Charlie had been put into the music department by his Grandmother, since the school is really for gifted children in the academic studies as well as the liberal arts.) His house is where Charlie puts all the things he doesn't want the Bloors finding. This fails only once in the fifth book of the series. Fidelio is Charlie's best friend and close confident. He is also friends with their other friend Olivia Vertigo and has a strange relationship with her that borders on romantic at times, though they are still only tweleve. (please note that Fidelio's hair is an ultra curly mop top and there's no such thing with the doll maker. Sorry.) |
| Olivia Vertigo |
![]() |
| Olivia Vertigo is the daughter of a famous actress and wants to be an actress herself. She is known for being one of the wildest of the children in the Drama department, wearing strange clothing like boas and sparkles and purple stilhetto heels as well as dying her hair different colors, though her hair is originally brown. She is the second friend Charlie makes besides Fidelio, though at times she makes even Charlie wonder what she'll do, since she is incredibly unpredictable. She is one of the children of the red king, though didn't want to admit it to herself until Miss Angel finally told her that she should accept it in herself. She is Charlie's secret weapon. She is an illusionist, able to make any life-like illusion that she can imagine. Dr. Bloor and his grandfather Ezekiel Bloor would love to get their hungry hands on her. Any child that is endowed that they don't know about or can't control for themselves is a danger to them. However, Olivia has a tendency to make illusions happen when she feels like making it happen for kicks. |
| Billy Raven |
![]() |
| Billy Raven was orphaned and taken in by the Bloors when he was a baby. The only thing he has of his parents is a small photograph of them sitting under a tree right before Billy was taken away from them by the Bloors. He is Charlie's friend most of the time, though is made a spy for the Bloors to spy on Charlie's moves with hopes of extra sweets, friendship from the Bloors, and the promise of a new family. He has grown up in Bloors Academy, only briefly going into the household of the Pest family as his new "family" for giving the Bloors the location of Charlie's wand. Billy has the ability to speak to animals, any animal. His pet/friend is Rembrandt the rat, former class pet of the former art teacher. The Bloors don't know about the rat. |
| Gabriel Silk |
![]() |
| Gabriel Silk first showed up when he was caught with Charlie's new blue cloak and had given Charlie the cloak that he had been given, which was old and tattered. Gabriel is the son of a writer and has an entire shackful of gerbils as his pets. He's obsessed with his gerbils and very proud of them. Gabriel lives in the same area as Tancred Torsson, Lysander Sage and Loom Villa. Gabriel has psychic abilities through touch. The cloak given to him was driving him insane because the previous owner had been a girl that the Bloors didn't like, so they had ordered her to be killed by their henchbeast. From her old cloak, he would feel like he was being chased and then killed. Charlie pretty well saved his sanity when he decided to let Gabriel wear his cloak indeffinitely and Charlie was given a new cloak that was specially made by his aunt Venetia. He has a crush on Ada Isidore, a fellow psychic. |
| Lysander Sage |
![]() |
| Lysander Sage is the son of the Judge. His mother is endowed and knows feels when Lysander is having problems. He is in the art department and a year ahead of Charlie and his friends along with his best friend Tancred Torsson. He is descended from African wisemen and can bring his anscestors' ghosts back when he's in need to stemming a tide. The spirits come with the sound of drums and carry spears and swords and axes. They have terrified many on the Bloors' side before. He has a pet parrot named Homer that he can't live without. |
| Tancred Torsson |
![]() |
| Tancred Torsson is decended from a man named Thor after the god of thunder. He is known for having a rather stormy and unpredictable temperment, but is usually rather jovial and boisterous when he gets into it. He and Lysander Sage are best friends and, being the older of the endowed children on the good side, protect Charlie from the others trying to hurt him. Tancred's gift is the ability to summon storms and has a tendency to summon small ones when slightly miffed. His hair tends to stick straight up and crackle with electricity when this starts up. |
| Morgan MacGregor |
![]() |
| Morgan MacGregor moved into the house next to Charlie's friend Benjamin Brown and befriended Charlie after a little while of getting to know him. She is a few years older than Charlie and protects him along side Tancred and Lysander. She is highly protective of everyone of the children on the good side and takes the roll of "knight in shining armor" when she gets the chance. Morgan has a particularly odd relationship with Asa Pike, the werebeast of Bloors. She is most often seen bickering heatedly with Asa rather than being quiet. Most often, the bickering is a result of her endowment getting the better of her. Morgan MacGregor's endowment is a form of telekenisis that involves imagining what part of her body will do what and sending it to the object she wants to do something with. Her family came from Scotland. |
| Ada Isidore |
![]() |
| Ada Isidore showed up at school much like Emma Tolly did when she was hypnotized, except the hypnosis never stayed for long. Her family came from France to let the Bloors take care of her, because her parents were lost on what they should do for her. She is psychic only sometimes, tending to blurt out strange prophecies in a daze and promptly forget what she just said afterward. The Bloors wanted this for themselves, but Charlie found out what was going on and saved her from their clutches. She and Gabriel Silk have a somewhat romantic like relationship, though it's only in the crush stage. |
| Corazon De La Cruz |
![]() |
| Corazon De La Cruz is from America, her family descended from an Aztec sun bringer. She was brought over and hypnotized to be under the Bloors' control because her endowment allows her to pull the sun out of any storm. She is normally very quiet and likes sitting out in the sunlight as often as she can. She is easily intimidated, but stands her ground most of the time when it's needed. She and Tancred Torsson were supposed to be at odds, but have started fancying each other. |
| Asa Pike |
![]() |
| Like Billy Raven, Asa Pike is neutral ground. However, he is most often on the side of good after Morgan shows up and thwarts a lot of his usual efforts to be Manfred Bloor's lackey. Afterward, he spends a good deal of his time litterally sniffing around Morgan and being a bit of an animal. Asa Pike was the beast that had been sent to kill Charlie durring the ruin game and has been used as an errandboy for the Bloors to dig up things that have been burried and to do their dirty work, much like Billy Raven. Specifically, he can only change into a beast that is a combination of a hayena, wolf, dog, and large cat at dusk. |
| Rosemary Lace |
![]() |
| Rosemary Lace is a mystery to everyone. It is still not certain if she is one of the Bloors' lackeies or is on the side of Charlie. She is usually rather vacant looking and always tying strange friendship bracelets with colored thread, usually in the company of Joshua Tilpin. Her endowment is enchanting the lacing that she uses to make bracelets. |
