Your eyes need protection ALL YEAR from UV rays just like your skin.
When purchasing a pair of sunglasses, look for the seal of acceptance from the American Optometric Association and UV protection between 99% and 100%
The damage to your eyes from UV rays is lifelong. Young runners and old runners should protect their eyes.
If you wear regular glasses or contacts, get them coated with UV protection. When running, wear proper sunglasses.
In clude a hat in your running wardrobe. It will help protect your eyes as well as the exposed skin around your eyes
Ensure the glasses you buy fir properly. If your sunglasses slip, try a sports band to secure them.
Try and also have your sunglasses polarized to prevent glare. Glasses that lighten and darken based on the amount of light (photochromatic) are a good choice if your running takes you in and out of shade.
