SEPARATE GARAGE (RCA BARN) CONSTRUCTION

Jan05: After completion the rough excavation for the PAD, I dug the trench for the electrical service.  Fortunately the previous sheds had a line already run from the main service panel at the house, so I just needed to "reroute" the existing line.  The Kubota backhoe did this job in about an hour.  Male Boxer is inspecting the work.
Construction plans called for ten 2ft diameter foundation piers, each 3 1/2ft deep.  Interestingly, the plans did not require any steel reinforcement in the PAD or piers, however, I added some (more on this later).
Late Jan:  the Kubota backhoe starts excavating the piers:
Now as most of you tractor drivers probably know, its very hard to dig a nice circle with a backhoe, so two options are considered:
1.  Dig a "squarish" circle which will require substantially more concrete.
2.  Dig a "squarish" circle and use a sonotube to confine the concrete pour.
Located 2ft diameter sonotube at local building supply in 10ft lengths.  Home Depot and such usually only carry up to 1ft diameter.  Expensive, but should save me a couple yards of concrete.  So cost wise, its pretty much a push, but should make for a neater job.
21Feb:  sonotube arrives >>>
