Running Swift Kennel-Karelian Bear Dogs & Racing Sled Dogs
This is Alpine. He was our main Karelian stud and a great guy, with a lot of hunting instinct. We lost him this year. We were told it was probably a stroke, which paralyzed him. We truly miss this gorgeous boy very much. He came from working lines on the Kenai Peninsula.

Running Swift Kennel is dedicated to furthering the Karelian Bear Dog by promoting quality, working dogs. We currently have three Karelian Bear Dogs of varying bloodlines from Idaho, Montana and Alaska, which go back to Finland. It is our goal to educate people about the Karelian Bear Dog to provide a clear understanding of the dogs, their history and their characteristics.  See Bear Dog pages for more info.

Running Swift Kennel also maintains a racing sled dog team. Our focus is mid-distance events, and we have run tours in Chatanika and Fort Wainwright on special occasions.  The team consists of pointer crosses of our own breeding and hounds from the Hollingsworth's, as well as several other kennels (Blevins/Redington/Taylor) to compliment our own lines. Along with our pointers, our kennel consists of several Alaskan Huskies, out of various racing bloodlines and some Second Chance League rescues.  See the Sled dog pages for more info.
This is RS Ultimate Radar, or just Radar for short. He comes from field champions and master hunters, out of Montana. Radar surprised us with his incredible work ethic and untiring drive in harness. He really turned us on to pointers and is the first of our hounds. Radar is a gorgeous boy, who produced some very nice crosses for us, as well as for other racing kennels (both sprint & distance) in the area. He's neutered now and has retired to the house and his "bed".
