I'm Not Doing Random Thoughts Anymore ... Or Any Less! | |||||||||||

I haven't been doing one hell of a whole lot of writing this past couple of weeks. It's hard to believe that it's been two weeks since I updated this page last time. I guess time will get away from each and every one of us occasionally. That's the way of the world! It's been a fun couple of weeks. That is to say, I've been keeping myself distracted from life's drudgeries by singing loudly to the radio while I'm at work. The nice thing is that I have at least three other people who join in my cacophony. (In all truth, none of us qualify as cacophonous. One of the three lip syncs, the other two and I have been in choirs for practically all our lives ... That is to say, we stopped our official singing upon high school graduation.) This past week, I somehow earned a theme song. It seems that I have a swagger that I never knew was there. (I admit, I do walk a little funny, but I do it on purpose ... You never know when someone looking at you needs a bright spot in their day. I like to leave as many people with smiles on their faces as I can.) On the way back to my work space from another part of the building, a friend of mine (one of the three singers, in fact) saw me coming down the hall. Through the window in the door, I saw him, his girlfiend, and at least one other person doubling over as I got closer to the door. I am, of course, always intrigued at genuine merriment (there are kinds of merriment that aren't genuine ... Like the kind that exists when someone is trying their best to humiliate someone else, if you know what I'm talking about ... That's the kind of merriment that exists among the people most likely to get promoted wher I work.)? So, I open the door to riotous laughter. The quizzical look on my face deepens the joy in the air. "What's going on?" I ask. "I was just singing a song to your walk. It's your theme now." "Well, what is it?" I further inquire. After a few moments pause while waiting for the fresh laughter to die down, the same guy responds, "It's 'Stayin Alive' by the Bee Gees." I smiled really big. "I love that song!" Then I started singing it. In the original register, no less! The laughter doesn't stop for several more minutes. It's amazing we get any kind of work done sometimes. But, it is nice to break the drudgery..... A Change is in the Air! Next week, I think I'm going to start posting photographs of just random stuff that's caught my eye. From here, though, I might move it on to something called Deviant Art. It's a page I've gotten into through the Velma Dinkley Forum at Yahoo. Check it out if you ever get a chance! It's a wonderful total arts community. (Housing painters, photogropher, writers ... You name it, and it's done there!) |
