News
There are serious issues concering Ruskin College at the moment.  The Govrening body has decided to close down both sites at Walton Street and Ruskin Hall, Headington, and open a new 1.7 Acre site in summertown.  And some of us, both staff and students, former, as well as present are very concerned.  This could happen as early as September 2003, but probably september 2004.  These plans are by no means guarenteed, therefore there is still hope.  The reason that their is so much opposition to this new site is that:
There is now physical room for expansion that could seriously hamper its future educational development

The Decision has been made with no concedered eveluation of the possible development oppertunities to expand the 20 Acre site at Headington

Will result in an overnight loss of heritage and historic links to the labour and TU movments and meetings which have taken place in or been launched from college buildings over the last 100+ years through selling off the college's assets

And we are concerned by the proposed "PFIstyle" partnership with a property developer at a time of financial uncertainty rarther than seeking to develop the freehold sites it already owns
Information taken from the Petition against the closure of both sites
