POLNEY UPERYOD!

Well, down by the ferries there is an awesome Russian Foxtrot Class Submarine. Project 641. Codename: Cobra. We’d been meaning to make a visit, and with Erin taking a deep breath to calm her claustrophobia, off we went.

There were 79 of these made between 1958 and 1984, the b-39 was a 284 foot stealth fighting machine that spent its 20 year life prowling the oceans. It was built in Sudomekh Shipyard, Leningrad, and was home to 56 sailors, 10 midshipmen, and 12 officers, all of whom spent 10 days of their 30 day shore leave in a Russian looney bin recovering from the experience (we just found a pub and was right as rain after a jar or two). Based in the Pacific, out of Vladivostock these boats never ever did anything sneaky like invading US waters or listening in or doing anything bad whatsoever.

Here it is from the outside.

Me strolling about outside.

Strolling about some more

Now this is what my cammo is for. Hiding discreetly against red ladders and plastic warning fences. Cunning or wot?
