The planet Uranus rules the Will. It rules the intuition, the third eye. Individuality is also an area of our character expression ruled by Uranus. Uniqueness and change befit the gift we received when the planet was discovered by the astronomer Herschel in 1781. This discovery represented the first planet to be discovered in modern times. If you remember your history, this also was the time period that electricity was discovered. Therefore the planet also rules electricity, and the electromagnetic current, which is the stimulator within the solar system of our carbon human bodies. Granted this is a subtle energy realized only by the few in today’s society. However, this is the connecting current to all life in our solar system. Third eye activity, i.e., meditation, yoga, and the other sciences of the mind at least in part owe their explanation to this majestic blue planet with its surrounding pole-to-pole rings.
As was stated earlier, Uranus rules change. Change was a very rare commodity in ancient times. In the feudal system of past governments very little individuality was allowed to exist. People were workers for the state, could not own land, and the idea of voting for candidates was totally unheard of. And then, along came George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin, who by the way is credited for the discovery of the revolutionary concept of electricity. Our revolutionary was a long time in coming, but aided by the discovery of Uranus, mankind felt a new energy for self-rule, of the people, by the people, and for the people. Well, it is a nice concept. Perhaps we have lost some of the inherent qualities of freedom and liberty, nonetheless these are the ideals and realities of the dominion of Uranus. So, the planet Uranus is the revolutionary of the zodiac. Uranus helped the break away, and thawed out the crystallization of our ancient world, and vibrated to Earthen humans the concept of Liberty. Give me liberty or give me death was the ideology of our revolution as spoken by Senator Patrick Henry of Virginia. The French revolution followed a few years later solidifying our kindred goals. As you may recall from your history studies, the French were instrumental in helping us attain our goals in the eighteenth century. This is the country which presented us with the Statue of Liberty. In all these are wonderful tales of the planet Uranus.
The concept of change was a rather far-fetched concept for our ancestors to appreciate given the bondage their lives were subjected to prior to the Uranian Epoch also known as the Age of Aquarius. The crystallization of our society is exemplified by the fixed rotation of the planets that are visible to the naked eye. These planet are, as they revolve around the Sun: Mercury, Venus, Earth, the Moon, Mars, the Asteroid Belt, Jupiter, and Saturn. Saturn being the planet of crystallization. Uranus’ discovery opened the door. The door to our individuality, and to the concept of change. Today you are not limited to working in a tobacco field, or working in the mine because a government or church tells you that you must remain in the trade you were born into. You have free will and choice to attain any goal you set for yourself. Goals and Objectives are also the dominion of the planet Uranus, the sign Aquarius, and the eleventh house in the Horoscope Chart. Many people have been persecuted for their desire to free people, countries, and institutions from the grip of domination. To these people we owe a great debt, a debt we can repay by continuing to exercise our Free Will, and Individuality.
The Planet Uranus changes signs in its progress through the zodiac each seven years, completing the journey in eighty-four years. Therefore the planet Uranus also rules the seven-year itch of change. We are challenged on one level every seven years to adapt our Identity to the new methods called for by the characteristics of the next sign that Uranus inhabits. Always a radical in the desire to change, Uranus is an indicator for each individual as to which area of themselves is in need of liberation. Uranus loosens up the restrictions of Saturn, and brings us to the less inhibited approach to our lives. It is a New Age, but it takes time to accomplish these goals, a review of the last two hundred or so years can attest to this fact. There are many involved in the holding on to the status quo, who by their very actions restrict and inhibit the progress that all people deserve in this life. The goal usually comes at a great price, often the very people you love, and who may have brought you into this world do not espouse your freedoms. Great deeds performed by great people rise to the beat of a different drum in order to bring liberation to a world that oft times seems more willing to hide their head in the sand, and just pretend that all is grand, and hope that everything turns out okay. The revolution is not for the weak, but they shall inherit a better Earth.
We as individuals have great challenges brought about by the movement of the planet Uranus through the zodiac. We also are given electric changes of grace and fulfillment along with surprises in advancement of all which are product of, and examples of the transit pattern of the planet Uranus. In an individual chart, the transit of Uranus makes a positive aspect at the age of fourteen, which represents coming of age for boys and girls. At twenty-one a challenge is presented to the native to join the party of adulthood and responsibility to society, a challenge to set up a sense of self for future accomplishment. At twenty-eight a positive aspect takes place between the transit Uranus and the Natal Uranus which gives confidence of purpose to withstand the onslaught of the status quo struggles at this time. From thirty-nine to forty-two is the mid-life crisis when the individual is weighted in balance for the efforts of the first half of life. These tests are large in view that mature beings must confront the successes of life, or lack of, and make the necessary adjustments for the remainder of the life. At age fifty-six or thereabout, the entity is given more fruit for their labors giving strength to go on in the work. At seventy years, another trial of life occurs bringing the grace of acceptance for efforts, and wisdom to be shared. This is a critical time, for the events of this time shape the future life for the entity, and if the crystallization process has not been too damaging, then many fruitful years await the soul and its journey in this life.
