Insurance waivers must be filled out
and turned into Rutgers Readers before volunteers can start tutoring at
Redshaw
TB test documentation is required by
the school. Test results up to 12 months old are valid. Please have this with
you for your first day of tutoring.
Dress Code: Please dress casually but tastefully when you go
to Redshaw. Sneakers are permitted.
Name tags must be worn at all times while you are at the
school. It should be read “Miss/Ms/Mr” followed by your first name.
Attendance Policy: No more than 3
shifts may be missed over the course of the semester.
You must notify your Reader Leader if you cannot
attend a shift, and Reader Leaders must notify their shift if they cannot
attend a shift.
If you are in the morning shift, you must contact
the school if you are going to be absent so that your teacher knows you are not
coming.
Tutoring bags are available for all
members to carry books, games, paper and crayons in.
Books, games, and other materials are all located in the Rutgers Readers
office, located in the SAC. To get into our office, go to the front desk and
ask for the key to office V, Rutgers Readers. You will have to give them
your student ID.
Please return all games to the office
after your shift so that others may use them.
Always walk to Redshaw with your group, or
make other arrangements to go with a buddy.
Upon arriving at the school, don’t forget to sign-in!
This is required by the school and is our way of monitoring volunteer
attendance.
On the first day of tutoring, your
Reader Leader will accompany you to the vice-principle Ms. Smith’s office, and
she will direct you to your assigned classroom. After the first day, you will
proceed directly to your assigned classroom.
If you will be playing the gym, you
must be wearing sneakers and follow gym rules and guidelines.
