Quite frankly, for the Med-jai to lose the key after three thousand and more years was a bit of a blunder don't you think?

OK, for a quick warm up we will translate  the hieroglyphs on the puzzlebox....

and as they say in all the good books on heiroglyphs, transliterate and translate ...

djed medu (words to be spoken by)

(the ideogram for a king)

inpw (the god Anubis)

nesut bity (king of upper and lower Egypt)

men maat ra (the truth of Ra is established) This is Seti I's throne name

Two other quick translations...

Ptah men en seti This one isn't used in the film but is Seti's full name written out in a cartouche.  It means "Seti, beloved of Ptah"

kepher amen ra This one is in the film and made me laugh when I spotted it. It's Tuthmoses IV's nesut bity (throne) name and appears on the front of Seti's chariot which you see him driving in at the beginng of the prologue. Oops! It means the form of Ra is established
