September 1951 Started school at Bingham Academy (BA). The first school was located at Akaki.

1952-1957 BA - Mr Hay started the new building and Dad helped finish it. It was located at Kolfi. At that time is was quite a ways out of the city and completely surrounded by trees. Only a few houses were located in a small village by our access road.

1957-1958 Returned to Canada and attended MEI, until Easter. Then had to transfer to Harbord Collegiate in Toronto.

1958-1960 Stayed at Gowans Home in Collingwood, Ontario where I attended Collingwood District Collegiate lnstitute . Mr and Mrs Whitehead were in charge at the time.

1960-1961 Returned to Ethiopia. My parents were building at Bingham Academy so was there until Christmas. Took correspondence courses from Oxford University. After Christmas we drove down to Bulki (9500'). In August of 1961 returned to Canada.

1961-1962 Finished high school at Prairie High School which is part of Prairie Bible Institute.

1962-1963 Moved to Calgary and stayed with Phil & Olive Hutchinson. Worked for a few weeks at Eatons and then got my first official job at Alberta Government Telephones as a clerk earning a great salary of 95 cents/hr. In May of 1963 Dad & Mom came home from Ethiopia and we toured across Canada for 3 months.

1963-1964 Settled in Murrayville, kitty corner across from the Langley airport. Must have been one of the foggiest years in history. Attended Trinity Junior College. We were a student body of 49. We played basketball in an unheated converted barn with a plywood floor laid down in the hayloft. A string of sixty watt bulbs circled the outside of the building. The chapel had just been built and that is where most of the classes were held. Graduated with an AA diploma.

1964-1966 Joined a group of guys from McCallum Rd MB Church and we went to Fresno Pacific College. Graduated with a BA in Natural Science.

1966 - Summer was spent helping in the construction of Bakerview Church in Clearbrook BC. We poured the whole basement by wheel barrow and hauled each 4x4 for the roof up by hand. Some were 22' long. Then all the shingles. No fork lifts were used.

1966-1969 Attended Simon Fraser Univeristy, where I started my masters program. In the process was introduced to the IBM 360 computer. As a graduate student I had access to the computer room which consisted of a card punch, card reader and a printer. So I had lots of fun learning FORTRAN. After frustration with learning set in I applied for jobs all over the world as a biologist and finally got one in Winnipeg.

1969-1975 Freshwater Institute of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) Experimental Lakes Area . (This federal department went thru 5 name changes while I was there.) Our offices were in the building on the University of Manitoba campus, but our field camp was located 50 miles SE of Kenora, just a few miles south of Vermillion Bay. The last 30 miles was a logging road in varying degress of decay.

1975-1983 Pacific Biological Station - still with the DFO but now in an office overlooking Departure Bay at Nanaimo BC on Vancouver Island. Worked as a biologist under Dr. Mike Healy. We worked on the life cylce and feeding habits of salmon in the local area and as far north as the Skeena River flowing thru Prince Rupert.

1983-1992 Emmanuel Rehabilitation and Relief International (EI). EI is located between Stouffville and Gormley, just north of Markham, about 10 miles north of Toronto. A few scenes from Anne of Green Gables were filmed on the foot- bridge that spanned the pond on the property.

1992-1993 I accepted the urgent call of Briercrest to try and run their computer system. I stayed on for 5 months and moved on to BC in March of 1993.

1993- Trinity Western University

Started 26 Oct 1993 in the Development Department coding information for the receipting program. Also am trying to maintain the name/address file on our IBM RS6000. The program is written in Business Basic. In 1996, the university decided to bring in a software package from CMDS. I became the coordinator for the integration of the Development Module which involves trying to transfer our existing data into the new database. It means a lot of cleaning up and verifying of info we have.

4 April 1999: Celebrated Mom's 80th Birthday. A micracle considering she had her first strokes back in 1960.

Jan 2000: CMDS implemented and we start checking the data in the new database.

July 2001: Cal Hanson years reunion. Name change to formative years reunion. Good turnout. Good connections.

September 2001: formation of new Data Systems group within development to look after receipting, information database, and research for donors. I become part of the research team. Always did enjoy finding info on subjects or people.
