GOD AND 9/11
On TV during a 9/11 memorial program in the evening of Sept. 11th, 2001 people were asking where was God and why didn't he intervene and prevent this catastrophe, The answer is he was there. The problem is with some people's perception of God. God is a spirit. (John 4:24 in your Bible).
He was there in a spiritual way for all the people who who sought him. Since God is a spirit, we need to think in terms of spiritual  things such as love,  hope, grace, appreciation, confidence, courage, faith, compassion, understanding, fellowship,  friendship, guidance, spiritual healing and peace .These are some of the areas that God can be a part of our lives if we let him in.
Calamities can happen. They are not a a part of God"s influence in our lives. They just keep happening. Standing on the shore in the path of a hurricane and praying for it to stop before disaster occurs is vain thinking. Rather pray for courage to be able to withstand  whatever will happen to you and to your loved ones and ask for God's spiritual guidance. If a loved one is dying of an incurable disease, praying for him or her to recover is futile. Rather ask God to help in coping with the situation, for courage and to strengthen your faith, and to give the dying person faith and peace. If someone is sick and discouraged or in trouble, We should ask for Gods help in giving that person encouragement, hope and faith.
Basing our faith in God and our prayers on these concepts will help us through all kinds of problems in our life.
Robert W. Smeaton is a Professional Engineer and has been an engineering editor for over 40 years. While he is over 90 years old; he draws upon his
years of experience in other fields to write about subjects other than engineering because he feels some thoughts aught to be expressed, discussed and put into action. His knowledge of the Bible comes from attending many classes devoted to Bible study as well as teaching Bible classes for a number of years.

There are innumerable perceptions of what God is like all over the world. People seem to have a natural feeling that there is a powerful force
influencing their lives in many ways. This force we refer to as God.
However, peoples' perception of God vary widely so Mr. Smeaton thought that
he would write down his thoughts on the subject after he read about the 9/11 catastrophe and how some people thought God should have intervened to
prevent it.
