APOKILIPTIKA "Is that art?" update 5/5/05 Art Concepts, Projects, Proposals The Theme of the “Psyche” for 2005 is an overall theme, and we are all encouraged to develop ideas, projects and concepts that relate and link to this. APOKILIPTIKA hopes to encourage its members to explore this though our own unique flavor. The Apocalypse—the end of the world is a mythology deeply rooted in the human psyche, as every culture not only has creation myths, but end of the world myths too. With the modern overlays of politics, militarism and science/technology run amok, our contemporary concepts of the end times has evolved considerably. The underlying thread, particularly today, is "PARANOIA." I leave it up to you to interpret this in our context. Of course a theme camp is an expression of individual personality, and is independent of the annual theme in most cases. We will have our stylish fascists, sovietsky socialists, mercenaries, mad scientists, maniac robots and such; yet feel free to also fully explore the theme of the psyche as well. I am doing so individually with my mask work. I have two made-up for the event—to relate some subconscious personalities. Your ideas? Explore collaborations with others. For example, in recent months,, I have been collaborating with Mr. Jellyfish on a few very spicy ideas for 2005. This includes “Mini Man” which will be a 12 foot tall "Land Puppet." He will have articulated shoulder joints and legs, which will walk, move and even dance. He will have a voice changer unit and speaker installed. This should be real kicky around the Big Man… I see the Mini Man wandering there as the little conscious of the man… relating his innermost thoughts and impressions to wanderers by. People could ask questions of the Man, a great opportunity. As for myself, I am considering making my Dodge Caravan into a TMV- Tactical Mini Van. This will be done with magnetic “armor” panels and tempera paint- all easily removed afterwards!! Yes, I’m building Faux Missiles and a Machine Gun. You may also want to creat a mutant bike. I’d like to encourage the Propaganda Poster concept with all of you. We have created a gallery of sorts--the “Hall of Truth” which is of course as bogus a title as possible. You can link to this marvy thing on the front page, After all, those who purport to be the keepers of truth are usually either fooling themselves, or are actively trying to fool others. Such is the nature of propaganda. You are encouraged to create your own propaganda poster, by means and media of your choice, and send it to us to include in the Hall- jpgs please...or to bring this with you to the burn. Design it as you will, with the content and messages of your choice. The number of projects has grown tremendously in recent months. There is even an FM radion station in the works.
