Was sorrow, parting her at that
airport
security’s departure
check - we watched
soon-to-be cloven
couples neck, a short
and slight bit
forced ungrappling - I was touched.
We claimed, before our turn before
the gates,
a bench far
from them all. And full of laughter,
we kissed,
retained spirits, postponed fates
by eyeing
clocks - those weeks we longed after.
Now, posed here face-to-face like
superstars,
some other
couple full of tears embraced.
We faltered when we saw how, half-bit
farce,
our farewells
shared amongst us all enlace.
Our parting
such distention: naked hug
nagged-at then, slightly
touching, these hands tug.
