When I was a kid I loved when my family made crispy tacos. I also loved
when grandma Harris started making cherry torte for us when we came to visit
her. I have continued to make it for my sisters and family when we get
together. My daughter loves a dish that I made alot in Texas called TexMex
Stew.

TexMex Stew
Recipe:
In a large dutch oven pot heat 2 tablespoons of oil with 2 cloves of garlic.
Add in 2lbs of ground beef. Cook until browned. Drain fat from pot. Mix
in pot with beef 2 cans of diced tomatoes with their juices, 1cup salsa,
1teaspoon cumin, 1cup green onions chopped, 1/2 cup cilantro chopped. Bring
to a boil and then reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Add
in 1 drained can of corn and 1 drained can of black beans. Bring to a boil
and then reduce heat to simmer for 5 more minutes. To serve place in
idividual bowls, top with shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream. Serve
with tortilla chips and additional salsa for added taste.

Here is a recipe that we in our family use and like a lot. We improvise with lots of different things, spices especially, so it may never taste the same. Depends what we happen to have on hand! Here's our favorite recipe from when my children were growing up:

Curlyques and Shells

1 lb. hot dogs

1 Tbsp. margarine

1 medium onion chopped

1 (10 3/4 oz.) can tomato soup

1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce

1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp. sugar

dash Tabasco

1/2 to 3/4 lb. macaroni shells

Cut hot dogs LENGTHWISE into quarters. Melt margarine in electric skillet; saute onion until tender. Stir in soup, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sugar and Tabasco.

Add hot dogs; simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. (Hot dogs will curl up.)

Cook shells as directed on package. Arrange frankfurters in middle of platter with shells around outside (or just serve in separate bowls).

We probably served it with a jello salad and hot corn bread. Exciting, Huh!

I think we had something called "Road Kill Surprise."

We had a lot of favorite recipes. My favorite is green bean soup. Pick beans out of garden. They have to be fresh. Wash and cut off ends of beans. Cut up several potatoes in small pieces. Cut up two or more hot sausages (salt pork can also be used) cook the potatoes and sausage in water until mostly done . Add fresh green beans to the potatoes and sausage and cook another 20 minutes. Add milk to the water at end and cook again until hot. Our green beans from the garden just ran out but I have another planting that we will enjoy in September.

Another favorite in our house is 1-2-3 pickles. The recipe has been handed down. I made my first batch last week and will make more today.

1 cup salt, 2 cups dry mustard, 3 cups sugar, add one gal of vinegar. Put cucumbers in canning jar and poor above vinegar mixture over pickles. Put on jar lids. Let set for about 3 months and you have a favorite family pickle recipe. It can be divided into halves or quarters.

I have been thinking about this question. I think I have found a receipe I think you might like. These are my Christmas butter cookies. I make them every year. The receipes goes as follows: 1/2 cup butter or margarine, 1/2 cup crisco shortening solid, 1/3 cup sugar, 2 teaspoon water, 2 teaspoons vanilla, 2 cups flour, food coloring optional, colored food sprinkles optional. Cream butter & crisco together. Add sugar gradually, beating until light and fluffy. Stir in combination of water and vanilla. Stir in flour little at a time. Add food coloring if wanted. Mix until well until all is colored. Put in cookie press and put on ungreased cookie sheet. add sugar sprinkles at this time if wanted. Cook in oven at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until slighty browned. (Lois' Christmas Cookies)
