-20 pieces of wax paper approx.
8”x10"
-10-20 large circle templates for
tracing
-20 Dixie cups filled with liquid
starch
-20 large paint brushes
-Newspaper for tables
-Large box of assorted tissue paper
scraps

Motivation/Demonstration:
-Read The Very Hungry Caterpillar to class
-Demonstrate how to create collaged
tissue paper circle
Project/Classroom
Procedure:
-Students will use templates to
trace a circle onto wax paper. Then they
will paint liquid starch onto the circle and completely cover it with torn
tissue paper so that there are no white spaces left. Then they will paint liquid starch over top
of it and wait to dry. Once dry, the wax
paper peels off and students are left with a stained glass type circle that
will be added to all the students’ circles to create a stained glass classroom
caterpillar in the window.

-Make sure students use scissors and
liquid starch in a safe manner
