Project/Classroom Procedure:

            Procedure:

-Choose photocopies of Egyptian Art and draw some personal hieroglyphics and tear the edges of the paper on them.

-Glue pieces onto posterboard in a visually pleasing composition

-Once glue is dry, tear up tissue paper strips and dip into a glue/water mixture and layer overtop of collage.

-Once tissue paper is dry, paint over collage with coffee

-When coffee is dry, accent certain areas with permanent marker and gold gel pens

-When finished, mount on black construction paper and make a border with the gold gel pens

Day 1:

Students will watch the teacher demonstration and choose Egyptian Art from books to be photocopied and will also draw some of their own hieroglyphics.

Day 2:

Students will tear the edges of their collage materials and glue them onto the poster board.  Students will also tear up tissue paper and layer it on top of the collage.

Day 3:

Students will paint their collage with coffee. While waiting for things to dry, students can work on their border for mounting or start one of the follow up projects.

Day 4:

Students will highlight certain areas of the collage with the markers and gold gel pens.  The collages will be mounted on the black construction paper which should have a gold gel pen border around it.  The class will then discuss and present the collages.
