Objectives

Disparate word combinations can be used to stimulate imagery.

The concept of “commercial packaging” can be used to symbolize and parody human affairs.

Students will create a tribute to a famous artist and portray it on an old chair.

Description

Combine two words, an adverb and a noun (i.e. bandaged tricycle).  Use 3-D found objects to create a sculpture based on word play.

Students  will collect images and objects that signify the concept and seal them inside a clear plastic container.

Students will work in pairs to turn an old chair into a work of  art based on a famous artist/movement.

Materials

3-D found objects and mixed media

Found objects, collage, polyethylene plastic, mixed media

Old chairs, acrylic paint, white primer, brushes
