Hindu - Bhagavad Gita
To him thus overcome by pity,
whose eyes were filled with tears
and troubled and much depressed in mind,
Krsna spoke this word.
"Whence has come to thee this stain,
this dejection of spirit in this hour of crisis?
It is unknown to men of noble mind;
It does not lead to heaven;
It causes disgrace, O Arjuna.
Yield not to this unmanliness, O Arjuna,
For it does not become thee.
Cast off this petty faintheartedness and arise!

Buddhist - The Ten Necessary Things
At the very outset of one’s religious career,
one should have so profound an aversion
for the continuous succession of deaths and births,
to which all who have not attained enlightenment are subject,
that one will wish to flee from it even as a stag flees from captivity.

Zoroastrian
Because, therefore, I do abjure the evil mind
and all disobedience, arrogance, falsehood, O Mazda!
Would I beseech of Thee for a sight of Thee,
And for consultation with Thee.

Jewish - Psalm 61
Hear my cry O God.
Attend unto my prayer.
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee
when my heart is overwhelmed.
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

Christian - Matthew 7/7
Ask and it shall be given you.
Seek and ye shall find.
Knock and it shall be opened unto you.

Islamic - Sura 57/28
O ye that believe, Fear Allah and believe in His Apostle,
And he will bestow on you a double portion of his mercy.
He will provide for you a light by which you shall walk and he will forgive you,
For Allah is oft forgiving, most merciful.

Sufi - Gayan
