Diver's Log

The Dive Log from the first Farasan trip is a complilation of the information received from all members of the Exploration Team. We hope that the information is useful and will continue to add information and dive sites as we continue to explore on future trips. Because we would make several visits to our favorite sites every dive is not listed.

SITE Guama Slick Point                                     GPS 16o35.966N, 42o01.975E DATE  05 DEC 2003                                         TIME of DAY Early Afternoon WATER TEMPERATURE 83F/28C                     AIR TEMPERATURE 95F/35C DEPTH 6.2M/20Feet                                         VISIBILITY Good CURRENT Severe Surge COMMENTS Good dive site. Close to shore. Drop-off to sandy bottom. Coral heads close to shoreline under hang. Coral in very good condition – shoals of large fish, many  Sweet Lips and Blue Spotted Rays, turtle, lobster, Lion Fish, large clams.

SITE Zufaf Island Site #1 Big Rock                     GPS 16o44.503N, 41o44.184E DATE 06 DEC 2003                                          TIME of DAY Late Morning WATER TEMPERATURE 78F/25C                    AIR TEMPERATURE 89F/32C DEPTH 14.3M/50Feet                                        VISIBILITY Good CURRENT medium to strong COMMENTS Good coral with sandy areas. Shallow dive, mostly under 25feet. Lots of small coral heads. Lobster, rays, moray eels.

Great dive! Shallow dive on large coral heads. Blue rays, large snappers, turtle.

SITE Dumsuq Island                                      GPS 16o32.546N, 42o03.372E   DATE 06 DEC 2003                                      TIME of DAY Late evening/Night   WATER TEMPERATURE 80F/27C                AIR TEMPERATURE 84F/29C   DEPTH 6.1M/20Feet                                     VISIBILITY Poor to Very Poor   CURRENT None   COMMENTS   Shallow, sandy bottom. Fiord – blue water about 100M wide. A few small pieces of coral at      shoreline. Good site to moor for night.
