Even though I earn more than I earned last year (and if you factor in my new wife, a lot more), according to Microsoft Money I am worth a lot less now. And while I know that a computer program wouldn't lie to me, I have to say that it feels like I'm worth more- I mean there's hardly a chance that I'll be in this predicament any time soon. Or this one. 

But the fact remains that I am worth less than I was a year ago. A lot less.

I've worked harder this year than I've ever worked in my life; I've made many significant changes, accomplished many accomplishments. This year I have begun laying the various foundations that will shape my life, our life, for years to come. I've learned more. I've made more. I've done more. 

But the fact remains that I am worth less than I was a year ago. A lot less.

I just don't get it.
