Of all the differences we all hold - both my brothers and I we all graduated from the same school. Well, technically my younger brother and I graduated from Lakota East, but in the end it's all the same. We all went to many different schools throughout the Chicago area - from public schools to private school and then ended up in Cincinnati where our lives would change forever, not due to the community in which we lived but do to the circumstances in which we were placed. There was a definate plan in place set forth by Allah (swt), though I may not understand it fully, I do know that it all happened for a reason. Bhaiyah graduated in June of 1996 |

People always wonder if there was something they could have done differently that would have changed the outcome of what occurred. I look back and I know that at the age of 14 there was nothing I could have done differently. I made no movements that affected what he did that weekend at all. He actually asked me not to attend the conference the weekend he passed away. I had no reason to be there other than to see him in action doing what he found to be what he did best. I showed up for a few hours just to see him and see what was going on. I remember seing him all dressed up with a walkie-talkie walking around and making things happen. I felt proud of him and seeing how important all of it was to him made me wonder if I would ever be able to do what it is he was doing and all the while thinking to myself - he's leaving me this summer.... I thought he was going to leave me to go on to college... but Allah (swt) had a greater plan for him. He was to leave me forever. |
