ANCHOR RING
This is a steel ring, also known as a slave ring, found on floors, walls, ceilings and furniture. The metal is about one inch in diameter thick. It is a secure spot where a slave girl can be chained or bound to it. There are usually public anchor rings in most cities, including in paga taverns. Most Gorean stone couches, their beds, have anchor rings. Even a Free Companion might sometimes find herself chained to such a ring. It may be as punishment or simply to remind her that she is a woman and thus to be dominated.

ANKLE RACK
A device used to lock a girl's ankles in wooden stockage. Girls who have been repeated runaways may be held in place to have their tendons cut or feet amputated. "Explorers of Gor" p 68

ANKLETS
see bangles below, also may be beaded cuffs, about two inches high, as are worn by the Red Savage slaves

ARMLETS
gold and silver bands that decorate a slaves arms, some studded with stones, worn tightly high on the arm

BANGLES
bright gold and sliver bands worn on a girl's ankles and wrists, worn in groups, usually to accentuate a dancer

BARK CLOTH
the inner bark of the pod tree dyed scarlet and plaited and pounded into a cloth akin to burlap but softer; it has a variety of uses including a rough wrap around the hips of a slave constituting her only clothing in some instances "Explorers of Gor" p 287"

BELLY CHAIN
a chain that fits around a girl's waist and cannot be removed because of a girl's wide hips. There is a heavy padlock at the girl's back. In the front of the chain is a heavy medallion-like metal disk with kef on it.

BINDINGS
BINDING FIBER
stout twine made of strips of leather or of a fiber like hemp; a piece long enough to circle a slave girl's waist 2-3 times is often used as a belt for her slave tunic "Tarnsman of Gor" p 64 & "Dancer of Gor" p 375, 376, and 383

BINDING STRAP
a strap 3/4 inches wide and 18 inches long commonly used for binding the wrists and/or ankles of prisoners and slaves "Guardsman of Gor" p 237 and 274

CAPTURE KNOT
recognized for it's unique turnings as rope or binding fiber tied by a Warrior; usually in the capture of a slave girl but also used on any likely foe. "Explorers of Gor" p 58

BINA
slave jewelry, usually consisting of plain metals, colored string, wooden or cheap glass beads; sometimes used as a slave name "Kajira of Gor p82"

BLINDFOLD,GOREAN
consists of two rounded pieces of soft felt, three to four inches in diameter, and the binding which is several turns of a dark thick, folded cloth, tied behind the head. The rounded pieces fit over the eyes, held in place by the scarf or tie. It is not normally used in transportation, the slave hood being preferred in those instances "Rogue of Gor" p 201

BODY CHAIN
closely meshed length of chain about 5 feet in length which can be used in a variety of ways to bedeck or secure a slave. Some are decorated with semi-precious stones and wooden beads. Detachable lock and snap clips allow the chain to be transformed from slave jewelry to slave restraint "Rogue of Gor" p 71-72 & "Guardsman of Gor" p 281

BONDAGE KNOT
a loose knot tied in a slave's long hair near her right cheek or before her right shoulder that has two meanings, depending on how it is used. If a slave girl approaches a Master and kneels naked before him, looping the knot herself, she silently begs for use. If a Master ties the knot himself, notably during a time of battle, it is his way of marking the girl as taken if he must continue on, leaving her bound behind "Tribesmen of Gor" p 27 and 321 & "Dancer of Gor" p 299-300

BRANDING RACK
A device to which a new slave girl is chained for branding; her hands are chained above her head but the rest of her body is free to move except for whichever thigh is to be branded this being held motionless in a large vise. "Explorers of Gor" p 71 & "Savages of Gor" p 121

BUTTONS
a 'recent' innovation for slave attire, not used on the garments of Freepersons. Most garments are fastened with hooks, pins or brooches. Buttons are considered rather sensuous on Gor. "Slave Girl of Gor" p 417

CAGE WAGON
used to transport both male and female slaves, this wagon has bars surrounding it that can be light or heavy in strength depending on the slaves transported; male slaves are commonly chained by neck, ankles and wrists to wooden stalls within. "Fighting Slave of Gor" p 326

CAMISK
slit fully on both side with a slit for the head, worn poncho style the cloth is held in place with a cord tied tightly about the waist..the hem coming barely beneath the groin and bottom so that the slave flesh is fully available at all times. "Captive of Gor p64"

TURIAN CAMISK
is a style of camisk worn by slaves in the city-state of Turia; it consists of a piece of cloth shaped like an inverted 'T' with a beveled crossbar; it fastens behind the neck and falls before the wearer's body; the crossbar then passes between her legs and is then brought forward snugly at the hips; it is held in place by a single cord that binds it at the back of the neck, behind the back, and in front at the waist "Nomads of Gor p90"

CAPTURE SCENT
An anesthetic widely employed to render it's victims unconscious; a rag soaked with it is held over the mouth and nose or shot into the victim as an anesthetic dart. "Marauders of Gor" p 115 and 116

CHAIN TUNIC
a slave garb or bond of Tyros not otherwise described. "Guardsman of Gor" p 108

CHALWAR
baggy pants of diaphanous silk, worn by slave girls of the Tahari; similar to the harem trousers of Earth "Tribesmen of Gor p105"

CHATKA
the strip of black leather, some 6 inches by 5 feet long, worn like a breech- cloth over the curla (the red waist cord ) by the slave girls of the Wagon Peoples. This is worn along with the kalmak a vest of black leather. The slave girls may also wear the koora, a strip of red fabric worn as a headband "Nomads of Gor" p 30 & "Slave Girl of Gor" p 329

CLAD KAJIR
among the Wagon Peoples, this phrase refers to slaves who wear four articles; the curla, chatka, kalmak and koora "Captive of Gor p64" & "Nomads of Gor" p 30

CLOSE CHAINS or GYVES
ankle chains with a mere four inches of chain between them; used for captured free woman so they may maintain their modesty. "Players of Gor" p203

COLLARS or KO-LAR
any of several iron or steel collars that fit around the neck of a slave; in Torvaldsland, they are of iron, hinged, and fastened with a rivet "Tarnsman of Gor" p 26 & p 46 & "Explorers of Gor" p 80 "The collar," I said, touching it, "is put on from without, but what it encircles, the slave, comes from within." BEADED COLLAR
a collar of different colored beads and knots, each design specific to a Red Savage Master "Savages of Gor p317"

COFFLE COLLAR
various types of steel collars with rings front and/or back to hook 3 to 4 ft lengths of chain between them; some hinged in the back "Savages of Gor p135"

CAPTURE COLLAR
a loop of chain controlled by two wooden handles so that it is easy to block off the slave's air supply as a measure of control. "Savages of Gor" p180

CORD COLLAR
collar made of cord fashioned from the rence plant it is worn by rencer slaves and carries a small disk to identif "Vagabonds of Gor p341" y the owner

DANCE COLLAR
a collar to which light- weight (but effective) chain has been attached in order to set off the dancer; a common type consists of a large oval of chain to which wrist cuffs and/or ankle cuffs are attached; once the two sides of the oval have been attached to a ring on the collar; there are variations depending on "Kajira of Gor page 143"

KUR COLLAR
the A high, locking, leather collar which is used to identify Kur slaves "Marauders of Gor pgs322-323"

LEATHER LEASH COLLAR
a leather slave collar with attached which may be used when the slave is to be led, usually for reasons of security "Magician of Gor" p 33

LOCK COLLAR
a hinged collar easily removed by the use of a key; usually of flat stock c. 1-1/2 inches to 2 inches high; usually worn by trained slaves; the lock has one pin for each of the letters in the word 'kajira' "Assassin of Gor p51"

MESSAGE COLLAR
worn by slaves who convey messages, it is a thick, high, leather collar, fashioned by Turians, literally sewn around her throat. Sewn inside, within the leather itself is a message, written on a small piece of rolled rence paper. The slave girl often does not know that her collar carries a message and of course would never know it's contents "Nomads of Gor p40" & "Marauders of Gor" p 127

NORTHERN COLLAR
a utilitarian sounding collar made of black iron with an iron ring to be used if a chain is attached. It is rivited around the neck of the bond-maid "Marauders of Gor pgs105-106"

PLANK COLLAR
A plank collar is used on slave benches. It is a heavy wooden plank with five semicircular openings, when the plank is lifted it provides holding collars for five slaves. The plank is then chained down. The primary holding arrangement for women on the benches, however, is not chains. Each place on the bench is fitted with ankle and wrist stocks, and for each bench there is a plank collar, a plank which opens horizontally, each half of which contains five matching, semicircular openings, which, when it is set on pinions, closed, and chained in place, provides five sturdy, wooden enclosures for the throats of women. The plank is thick and thus the girls's chins are held high. The plank is further reinforced between each girl with a narrowly curved iron band, the open ends of which are pierced; this is slid tight in its slots, in its metal retainers, about the boards, and secured in place with a four-inch metal pin, which may or may not be locked in place. PLATE COLLAR
collar of flat stock which is hammered about a slave's neck; usually worn by untrained slaves "Hunters of Gor p13"

SHIPPING COLLAR
a temporary collar showing that the slave girl is part of a cargo "Explorers of Gor p79"

SLEEVE, COLLAR
A sleeve made out of cloth of some type which goes around the collar and normally would match the outfit the slave is wearing. Used only in some cities. "Kajira of Gor p46"

STRING COLLAR
four looped strings, each differently knotted by the Master to identify the slave's owner, worn by the slaves of the Red Hunters.

TRANSPORT COLLAR
a collar with a metal tag attached listing destination or other vital information, to be used during transport of a slave. "Dancer of Gor" p 73

TURIAN COLLAR
a slave collar of cylindrical stock, rather than the normal flat stock of northern lock collars; fits more loosely that a lock collar, enabling it to turn around the wearer's neck "Nomads of Gor p29"

COSMETICS
lipstick, rouges, powder are all used to enhance the beauty of a slave, Free Woman do not normally use any cosmetics. "Captive of Gor p322"

CURLA
the red waist cord worn by slavegirls of the WagonPeople "Nomads of Gor" p 30 & "Slave Girl of Gor" p 328

DANCING CHAINS
a chain arrangement that is used with certain dancing styles; she is fastened within bracelets to which very light gleaming chain is attached, the chain is looped up through a loop in her collar. The chain passes freely within the loop, a wrist ring is fastened on her right wrist, the long chain is fastened to this and loops down and up, ascending gracefully to a wide chain ring on her collar, through which it freely passed, then decending, looping down, and ascending, looping up, gracefully,to the left wrist ring. If she stands quietly, the palms of her hands on her thighs, the lower portions of the chain, those two dangling loops, are about at the level of her knees, just a little higher. DECK CAGE
small cages fastened to the deck of a ship to transport slaves not kept in hold. "Explorers of Gor" p 26

DEGRADATION STRIPE
a 2 inch wide band shaved into the hair of men captured by talunas or panther girls; it runs from the forehead to the nape of the neck. "Hunters of Gor" p 137

DISPLAY CHAINS
naked slave girls who are sold in groups are put into a chain which may be fastened taut at either end; the girls are spaced on the chain so that they don't crowd together and can be more easily displayed; "Tribesmen of Gor" p 14

DISPLAY WAGON
flat-bedded and used to transport female slaves, this wagon has a metal framework that allows girls to be chained in alluring positions and viewed easily by those passing; sometimes one end of the wagon is used as an auction block and girls are sold directly off the wagon. ERRAND CAPSULE
An errand capsule is a leather cylinder attached to a slave's neck by a string over the collar, it is used for carrying notes and messages usually. "Dancer of Gor p300"

FOOTWEAR
shoes or sandals are never giving to a slave...they are kept barefoot..occasionally cords are wrapped decoratively about the ankles and calves

FOUR CHAINS
This type of chaining is more complicated than most. The slave wears ankle and wrist rings to which two chains are attached. The ankles and wrists joined together by eighteen inches of chain each and then the left ankle joined to the left wrist, the right ankle to the right wrist. FROBICAIN
A sedative injection used during Voyages of Acquisition to render a captured barbarian unconscious. "Assassin of Gor" p 126

GAG, COMMON
heavy, rolled-leather wadding thrust back behind the teeth, over the tongue of a slave, secured in place by a broad, mouth-covering strap, with three smaller straps attached to it. "Dancer of Gor" p 271

GIRL CAPTURE CHAIN
This is like a garrote in many respects. It has a narrow golden chain that will choke without cutting the throat. You can adjust it by spinning one of the wooden handles and thus controlling it with one hand. "Savages of Gor" p 180

GIRL YOKE
a narrow piece of wood with holes drilled in the middle and at each end. To secure a girl, thongs are looped through each end hole and the hole at the neck, attached to both wrists and neck. "Savages of Gor" p 281

HAIR LEASH:
hair confined into a ponytail with a ribbon or wooden fillet, so called because it can be used as a method of seizure and control by the Master. "Dancer of Gor" p 112

HARL RING
Named for the slaver Harl of Turia, it consists of four portions. First, there is a metal ankle ring to snap on an ankle. Second, to the back of the ankle ring is welded a closed loop. Third, to the front of the ring, fastened to another closed loop, is about a yard of chain. Fourth, the chain ends in a locking device which can be locked on the back of a second ankle ring. It is very versatile and you can use it to chain a girl to almost anything. A closed Harl ring is when you lock the chain on its own ankle ring around a tree or pole. A frequent use of these rings is to form a segment in a slave chain. One key will work for all of the rings of such a slave chain. "Hunters of Gor" p 208

IRON BELT
commonly consisting of a horizontal metal bar or strap that snugly encircles a girl's waist with a vertical component attached to the front of this horizontal bar with a hinge. The vertical component is then swung up between a slave's legs and all are fastened at the small of the back with a padlock. A device, comes in two types. SILVER YOKE
in Tharna, male slaves are brought into the presence of the Tatrix in a yoke made of solid silver, presumably to show the Tharnan's contempt for riches. The yoke itself was valuable enough to be the ransom of an Ubar. "Outlaw of Gor" p 91

SIRIK
an arrangement of chains used to display a slave girl rather than confine her; it consists of a collar to which about five feet of chain is attached; part-way down the chain is a pair of manacles and the chain terminates in a set of shackles "Kajira of Gor" p 185-186 & "Slave Girl of Gor" p 83 and 158 & "Dancer of Gor" p 165-166

WORK SIRIK
resembles the common sirik but the wrists, to permit work, are granted about a yard of chain. Like the common sirik, it is a lovely chain; women are beautiful in it "Kajira of Gor p 145"

A wicker basket strapped to a tarn to transport slaves. "Assassin of Gor" p 51

SLAVE BEADS
colorful glass or wooden strings of beads, suitable to be given to kajira at Master's whim. "Slave Girl of Gor" p 82

SLAVE BELLS
tiny bells which give off a sensual shimmer of sound; threaded by the dozen on thongs or chains, they maybe tied or locked around a girl's ankles or wrists,or attached to her collar; are worn or removed only at the whim of a master "Slave Girl of Gor" p 84 & "Vagabonds of Gor" p 20-21

LOCKING BELLS
a set of bells that are linked vertically at five places by tiny metal fastenings; each ring, opened, hinged, terminate on one end with a bolt and the other with a tiny lock; the small bolts fit into the tiny locks with four tiny snaps; the rings, link together, fitting snugly; each ring having five slave bells. THONG BELLS
they are less expensive than the lock variety, also, they may be tied at various places on the body, bout the neck, the wrists, the ankle, about the thigh, about the arm, etc. "Tribsmen of Gor p 49"

SLAVE BLANKET
A thin cotton-like blanket woven from the soft fibers of the Rep Plant to protect her from the cold. "Priest-Kings of Gor" p 67

SLAVE BOX, PUNISHMENT
A small square (3x3') iron box with a door having a viewing aperture of 7 inches x1/2 inches in the middle and a pass-through of 12x2 inches at the base; a punishment device for slaves. "Captive of Gor" p 313-314

A small, iron box used for the transportation of slaves. "Fighting Slave of Gor" p 120

SLAVE BRACELETS
manacles of various types intended to restrain the wrists of a slave; some are akin to handcuffs while some are almost jewelry light restraining bracelets made of blue and gold stones "Tribesmen of Gor" p 156 & p 102 & "Dancer of Gor" p 218

HOOK BRACELETS
leather cuffs with locks on them and snaps; they are soft and the snaps require no key. Some men enjoy them on their slaves; by means of the straps the girl may be variously secured by the locked cuffs "Slave Girl of Gor" p 297

IDENTIFYING
used in lieu of a collar, described as silver, it is attached to the wrist of a slave. Information about the owner is inscribed. "Magicians of Gor" p 430, 441, and 459

SLAVE CAGE
small, stout, wooden cord-bound, thick-barred cage adequate for the confinement of bound slaves. A wooden gate, tied shut, secures it. "Fighting Slave of Gor" p 220

SLAVE DIP
Slaves are immersed in this liquid, shortly after debarkation of a ship, to avoid parasites. The rules of many port authorities also require this.

SLAVE GIRDLES
belts to tie around clothes to accent a figure. There are various ways to tie them and it is said that only men know how to tie them properly. They may even be used to bind a girl if needed. "Magicians of Gor" p 21, 28-30

SLAVE GOAD
an electrical device much like a cattle prod used for controlling and disciplining slaves. "Assassin of Gor" p 84

SLAVE HARNESS
a slave garment or bond not otherwise described. "Magicians of Gor" p 108-109

SLAVE HOBBLE
a chain consisting of a wrist ring and an ankle ring, joined by about seven inches of chain. It is fastened on one ankle and then the opposite wrist. Even if a girl kneels, it is not uncomfortable. "Nomads of Gor" page 154

SLAVE HOOD
a leather hood, having no opening for eyes, mouth, or ears, which covers a slave's entire head; usually has a gag attachment. "Slave Girl of Gor" p 146

SLAVE KENNEL
a small room, usually 3'x3'x4', having an iron grill for a door in which a slave girl may be confined at night . "Rogue of Gor" p 117-118

SLAVE LIVERY
The most common of slave outfits, it is basically a very short dress, split down the middle, held together with a cord. It rides high upon the thighs and comes in a variety of patterns and materials. "Assassins of Gor p7"

SLAVE LOCKER
a sort of temporary slave box available at a depot for fee carts, for example. Once the slave has entered the locker, a tarsk bit is inserted which allows for the turning and removal of the key, which the owner pockets until his return. This kind of slave locker is unattended. SLAVE MAT
a course mat made of straw to which area a slave girl may be ordered for discipline or use, the girl may not leave the mat unless permitted by her master. "Priest-Kings of Gor" p 74

SLAVE OVAL
a method of chain a slave girl consisting of a hinged iron loop which locks around her waist with two sliding wrist- rings and a welded ring in the middle of the back "Slave Girl of Gor" p 146

SLAVE PERFUME
perfumes designed to be worn by slave girls; they are heavier and more sensual than those designed for free women. "Tribesmen of Gor p230"

SLAVE RAG
a cloth that is used to bind and conceal the loins of the slave girl, brought between the legs and drawn extremely tight about the waist to emphasis it "Slave Girl of Gor p76"

SLAVE RING
a heavy iron ring c. 1' in diameter to which a slave may be secured for security discipline or any other reason; often found in floors interior & exterior walls (either 1' or 3' above the ground) attached to the foot of a master's sleeping couch, etc. "Priest-Kings of Gor" p 48

SLAVE SACK
also called a body hood and several varieties exist. Most are made of leather or layers of stout canvas. They may be fastened by cords, straps, laces or locks. It is a common form of light punishment to be put in one. It makes her feel helpess and keeps her unaware of her location. Most sacks are usually stout enough to hold a man. SLAVE STAKE
about four and one half feet in length and four inches in width, cut from wood. At it's top, about two inches from the end, a groove an inch deep is cut. A long leather tether is attached to a slave's neck and affixed to the stake. It is used for securing a slave for the night, for example. "Explorers of Gor" p 349

SLAVE STEEL
generic term for collars, chains, siriks etc. worn by slaves. "Priest-Kings of Gor" p 158

SLAVE STRAP
heavy strap or belt which buckles behind the wearer's back; in front there is a metal plate with a welded ring through which passes the 4 hort (5 inches) chain of a pair of slave bracelets; designed to keep the wearer's hand before his body. "Hunters of Gor" p 65

SLAVE TRAP
a trap of powerful steel that is lined by sharp teeth which snap shut on the slave's leg and locks closed until opened by a key. The trap is locked, unlike an animal trap to prevent it being pried open by strong hands. "Hunters of Gor" p 126

SLAVE TUBE
This is a device to force feed a slave and is not a pleasant device. It consists of a cylindrical, truncated cushion, usually of cork or leather, with a circular hole in its center. It is forced into a slave's mouth and a tube is inserted into the center hole. The cushion prevents the slave from biting the tube. The tube goes down to the stomach. SLAVE TUNIC

SLAVE VEIL
a small triangle of diaphanous yellow silk, worn across the bridge of the nose and covering the lower half of the face; it parodies the heavy veils worn by free women, as it conceals nothing and often arouses the lust of masters. SLAVE WAGON
a flat-bedded barred wagon like a large cage with a door in the rear in which many slaves may be transported at one time their ankles chained to a bar that runs down the center of the floor; tarpaulins are often used to cover the cage & hide the cargo. "Captive of Gor" p 65

SLAVE WHISTLE
used in issuing signals summoning slaves and so on. "Assassin of Gor" p 84

SLAVE WIRE
a closely interwoven latticework of sharp, swaying strands, set at intervals of less than a hort. Serves as a confining fence. It's barbs and prongs could cut a slave to pieces. "Dancer of Gor" p 347

STIMULATION CAGE
an ornate fairly roomy cage furnished comfortably with fabrics of all kinds furs cosmetics perfumes jewelry etc. in which a naked slave girl in training may be housed; its purpose is to awaken her senses esp. the tactile senses to everything in the world around her so that she may be more pleasing to masters; in addition it is just too short for her to stand upright so that her head is always inclined in a gesture of submission. SUBMISSION MAT
a mat on which a girl kneels to submit. "Blood Brothers of Gor" p 129

a headband "Marauders of Gor" p 139

KAJIRA TALMIT
headband worn by work slaves; it can denote girls with authority over other slaves. "Captive of Gor" p 285-286

TASSA POWDER
A reddish powder usually mixed with red wine which renders the person unconscious; sometimes used by slavers in their captures. "Fighting Slave of Gor" p 222-223 & "Guardsman of Gor" p 113 & "Players of Gor" p 293

TA-TEERA
a simple cloth.. a one piece, sleeveless, short slave garment; also called the slave rag
"One of the most exciting slave garments, if a slave is permitted clothing, is the Ta-Teera or, as it is sometimes called, the slave rag. This is analogous to the tunic, but it is little more, and intentionally so, than a rag or rags. In it the girl is in no doubt as the whether or not she is a slave. Some cities do not wish girls in Ta-Teeras to be seen publicly on the streets. Some masters put their girls in such garments only when they are camping, or in the wild. Others, of course, may prescribe the Ta-Teera for their girls when they are within their own compartments."

THRALL TUNIC
a short work tunic of white wool that male slaves of Torvaldsland, called thralls, are dressed in. "Marauders of Gor p82"

THUMB CUFFS
light items and take up little space. They lock only the thumbs together and some feel they are less secure than bracelets. They may also be painful if too tight. A girl could hurt herself it she becomes hysterical so they should only be used while supervised.

WALKING CHAINS
These are used primarily in the Tahari. The chains tether the ankles and can be adjustable from two inches to twenty inches. A beautifully measured gait is thought to be attractive. Even Free women sometimes measure their stride, with either silk thongs or even the chain. "Tribesmen of Gor" p 48
