Chapter 2

Benji slid the box into the pocket of his jeans. He squirmed around and adjusted them trying to remember why he was wearing jeans. He hated jeans with a passion and was more prone to wear the same old black pants with patches on them that had become his staple. But Luxx thought he looked better in jeans, and tonight was Luxx's night, not his, he decided.

He grabbed his key card and walked down the hall to the awaiting elevator. Tony popped his head out of his room and grinned at his friend who was passing by.

"Ahh...dude!" Tony smiled. He walked out of his room and gave Benji a hug. "Dude! I can't even think of words! Dude."

"Please, please, please make sure that everyone gets down to CBGB's by 9:30. This has to be perfect, Tony. Please, please, you've got to make sure everyone is down there by 9:30."

"Alright, dude, chill. I'm here to make sure that it all turns out okay." Tony smiled and gave Benji another hug. "Brothers."

"Brothers." Benji hugged the taller man back and continued to walk to the elevator. He glanced at his watch to make sure that everything was going to go as planned. He was running a little late to pick her up from her room, two floors above his. He stepped into the elevator and tapped his foot as it inched upwards to Luxx's floor. It seemed to take hours for it to get there, but it couldn't have ever gone fast enough for him.

He hadn't seen her for almost three weeks and missed her more than anything. They talked every night after whatever show he had, but as long as she wasn't standing right by his side, he'd always miss her.

Benji stepped out of the elevator and dug his hands into his pockets, making sure the box was safely nestled inside. He walked quickly down the hall to her room, and paused outside the door. Taking a deep breath, he knocked lightly.

The door flew open and Luxx jumped into his arms. She rested her hands on his back and buried her head in his neck, smelling his cologne and shampoo. He smiled and closed his arms in tighter on her back. She pulled away from his neck and looked at him.

"I've missed you."

"I've missed you, too." Benji said as he felt her push herself out of his grip and then reach for his hand to lead him inside the room. "Come here," he whispered, pulling her hand closer to him. She turned to him and walked back into his arms, their lips pressing together.

Luxx pulled away and buried her head back into his neck. "I've missed you." She said again.

"I know." He stroked her long black hair and rubbed her back. "Luxx, we've got to get going." He whispered into her ear after awhile.

"Can't we just stay here tonight? I haven't seen you in so long and..." she paused, pulling away from his skin, but still encircled by his arms. "...I need to talk to you."

He brushed a few stray strands of hair from her face and said, "The guys all want to see you. They're all meeting us at CBGB's tonight, Luxx."

"Benj, I can see them tomorrow."

Benji pulled one of his arms away from her body and rubbed his forehead. "We don't have to stay long, we'll just go, have a drink, talk to the guys, and then we can come back here. Please, baby, just tonight."

She winced at the last sentence and sat down on the bed. "Okay, but we can't make it long, Benj. I really do need to talk to you."

"Can we talk in the cab?"

"It's not exactly a cab conversation."

"It's not a 'we're-breaking-up-conversation, is it?"

Luxx smiled and stood back up to wrap her arms around him. "Of course it is. You are so disposable, Benji." She whispered in his ear, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "It's most definitely not a 'we're-breaking-up-conversation."

"Then what kind of conversation is it?"

"I don't know."

"Is that good or bad?"

"I don't know."

He nodded slowly and she grabbed her purse. "Are you ready?"

"Could you ask any more questions tonight?"

"I'm not asking that many. You're just being Ms. Mysterious over here." He grabbed her hand and they walked together down the hallway and into the elevator. She rested her head on his shoulder as the elevator speed downwards; this time it was going too fast for Benji. "Tired?" She nodded and he figured it was because she had been on a plane most of the day.

The elevator stopped, but it was still three floors above the lobby. Benji froze, realizing that was the floor another one of that night's guests was staying on. The doors opened to reveal a tall boy with green hair.

"Aww..." He whispered at the site of the couple. "You two are so cute."

Luxx straightened up and smiled. "Jordan! What are you doing here?" She asked, giving her old friend a hug. Luxx and Jordan and met when she went to go see his band, New Found Glory, play a show in her hometown in Florida.

"I told you last week, Luxx. We're all celebrating the end of the tour," Benji announced quickly, so Jordan wouldn't mess anything up. The doors closed behind Jordan and the elevator started moving again.

She shifted her eyes from Benji to Jordan. Jordan smiled and nodded. "It's a celebration of sorts." He smiled again even bigger. "Aww...what a celebration it shall be."

Benji tossed a dirty look in Jordan's direction. He knew full well what he was doing, and it was making Benji mad.

"You guys look like you're going to fight."

"Fight? Us? Nope. Too much celebrating to do." He flashed another toothless grin and Benji tried to calm himself down. Jordan's smile never faded the rest of the ride down to the lobby. The three all walked out of the hotel and into the city where the sun was just beginning to set.

"I'll see you guys at CBGB's later," Jordan started off down the street as Benji and Luxx hailed a cab. "Who knows what'll happen tonight?" He laughed and walked a little faster away from the hotel.

Luxx and Benji exchanged looks; he just shook his head knowing that Jordan just wanted to aggravate him.

"What did he mean by that, Benji?" Luxx asked once she was in the cab.

"He's just being a little jackass, that's all," he replied with a nonchalant smile. So far the evening was going almost as planned. CBGB's was rented out for the night, everyone was in town, and Luxx had no clue.
