Washington Sängerbund2002-03 Season
Saturday, November 16, 2002, 8 pm, "Ein kleiner Blumenstrauss mit Tönen" - Washington Sängerbund Fall Concert and Dance.
Photo of WSB at Fall Concert. Held at the St. Catherine Labouré Church's social hall (Claridge Room), located at 11801 Claridge Road, Wheaton, MD (off Viers Mill Road, between Georgia and Connecticut Avenues). Lysle Sexton's Orchestra will play for the dance after the concert, beginning about 9 pm until midnight. Tickets are $20 in advance, available from Sieglinde Lord, 2809 East-West Highway, Chevy Chase, MD 20815; 301-565-9277. Ticket price includes soft drinks, mixers, setups, chips, pretzels; following the concert, cheese and crackers will be served; then at 11 pm coffee and cake. BYOB (bring your own beer, wine, or bottle).
Sunday, December 15, 2002, 3 pm, Washington Sängerbund Christmas Concert at the United Church, 20th and G Streets, NW, Washington, DC. An offering is taken to help the needy. Following the concert, refreshments are served in the church basement social hall.
Sunday, December 22, 2002, 4 pm, caroling at the National Gallery with the Washington Sängerbund. The venue will be the Sculpture Garden Pavilion, and the singing will be broadcast via a public address system to the skaters on the Sculpture Garden Pond. The Pavilion houses a cafe, so choir members and our friends may wish to come early or stay late for refreshments.
Saturday, March 1, 2003, 7 pm - 1 am, Faschingsball - Mardi Gras Ball at the Grand Ballroom in Fairfax. Dancing to two great bands, the Edelweiss Band and the Dixie Power Trio! Delicious home-made German food available. Beer, wine, champagne, soft drinks. Costume prizes.
Friday, May 2, 2003, 8 pm - Musica, die ganz lieblich Kunst - Washington Sängerbund Spring Concert at the Embassy of Austria, 3524 International Court, NW, Washington, DC 20008. Van Ness metro stop. The program includes selections by Austrian composer Robert Stolz, accompanied by the celebrated Con Brio Chamber Orchestra. Reception following the concert with entertainment by con brio! May 23-25, 2003, NÖSB Sängerfest in Wilmington, Delaware. Every three years the Washington Sängerbund participates in the Sängerfest of the Nordöstlicher Sängerbund with other member singing societies from the northeastern United States.
Monday, May 26, 2003, 2 pm - Memorial Day Service at Prospect Hill Cemetery. The Washington Sängerbund has accepted the invitation to participate in the service. Refreshments will be available.
