    Sunday, July 17, 2005 Washington Post 'Flashbacks' by Patrick M. Reynolds nationally syndicated strip features the Washington Saengerbund.

    ConcertMonday, September 5 (Labor Day), 2005 - 7 pm - Fall rehearsals begin. Rehearsals with conductor Mariano Vales are at 7 pm on Mondays, at the Concord Clubhouse, located at 2434 Wisconsin Avenue, NW (above the Old Europe Restaurant). See Members' page for details.

    Opening of Cluss Exhibition at Sumner School, Farragut North.
    Include listening stations for the CD that includes portions of the Washington Saengerbund at Calvary Baptist Church, designed by German-American architect (and Washington Saengerbund member) Adolf Cluss (1825-1905). The Adolf Cluss Exhibition Project, sponsored by the Goethe Institut, includes Adolf Cluss exhibitions in Washington and Heilbronn, Cluss’s birthplace, opening in Fall 2005 to mark the 100th anniversary of his death.     OktoberfestSaturday, September 24, 2005, 11 am-8 pm - Lovettsville Oktoberfest.Held in downtown Lovettsville, VA. Free admission. Delicious home-made German food served by the Washington Sängerbund. Performers include the Blaskapelle 'Alte Kameraden' and the Alpine Dancers.     OktoberfestSaturday, October 8, 2005, afternoon - Mid Atlantic Brewers' Association Oktoberfest at Capitol City Brewing Company, 2700 S. Quincy St., Shirlington (in Arlington). (The exit from Shirley Highway (395 S) if you are driving northwards is #6, between King Street exit (#5) to the south and Glebe Road (#7) to the north. If you are driving south, take Exit #7 for the "Shirlington" exit, and follow sign to Shirlington. The Village at Shirlington is WEST of Shirley Highway.) Admission is free. Delicious home-made German food served by the Washington Saengerbund. Performers include the Edelweiss Band and the Alpine Dancers. All are welcome.     Concert Sunday, October 9, 2005, 11 am - Festgottesdienst (in German and English) celebrating German-American Day. The Washington Saengerbund is participating in the Sunday service at United Church / Vereinigte Kirche, located at 20th and G Streets, NW (Foggy Bottom Metro).

    Concert Sunday, October 30, 2005, 2 pm - The Washington Saengerbund is participating in the Totensonntag service at Prospect Hill Cemetery, located in Washington, DC.

    Concert Wednesday, November 9, 2005, 8-10 pm
    "Bunt sind schon die Wälder" Washington Sängerbund Fall Concert and Reception at the Embassy of Austria.

    The Washington Sängerbund, under the baton of conductor Mariano Vales, presents its Fall Concert on November 9 at the Austrian Embassy, 3524 International Court, NW, Washington, DC 20008 (three blocks west of Van Ness Metro, red line).
    The concert celebrates the musical traditions of Austria and some of its Hungarian influences, ranging from hunting songs to Hungarian dances. Acclaimed soloists mezzo soprano Ingrid Cowan and tenor Ole Hass as well as the 40-voice German Kinderchor of Orange Hunt Elementary School will perform. Following the musical program, an elegant reception, with food prepared by the Washington Sängerbund's very own Austrian chef Siegfried, will allow guests and singers to enjoy time socializing. Limited seating.
    Tickets, which include the wine and beer reception, are $20 in advance or $25 at the door (if available). Advance purchase is strongly recommended.     Concert Friday, December 2, 7:30 pm - at The Brewmaster's Castle, 1307 New Hampshire Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. "Eine kleine Weihnachtsmusik" CD Release. Reception at the Brewmaster's Castle, the Heurich House Museum, for friends and media to celebrate the release of a new German Christmas CD by the Blaskapelle 'Alte Kameraden' and the Washington Sängerbund. Free, by invitation only. The CD will be available for purchase. Each group will perform a few selections. Light refreshments.     Concert Thursday, December 8, 2005 - The Washington Sängerbund performs with the Alte Kameraden at the Mormon Temple's "Festival of Lights." Two 30-minute performances, at 7 and 8 pm.

    Washington Saengerbund to Perform at Benefit for The Brewmaster's Castle.

    The Brewmaster’s Castle, under the gracious patronage of Wolfgang F. Ischinger, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United States, is pleased to announce the first annual Candlelight Holiday Gala and Fundraising Auction, to be held on December 10, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. The event will feature the music of the Washington Saengerbund as well as the Capital Euphonium Tuba Quartet. Professionally decorated trees and wreaths will be auctioned. Tickets are $125 per couple and $65 per single, and can be requested by contacting Jennifer Ruffner at 202-429-1894. The event is black tie optional.


    Concert  Sunday, December 18, 2005, 3 pm, Washington Sängerbund Christmas Concert at the United Church, 20th and G Streets, NW, Washington, DC. An offering is taken to help the needy. Following the concert, refreshments are served in the church basement social hall.

    Saturday, February 11, 2006, 7 pm - midnight - Faschingsball - Mardi Gras Costume Ball.. Come join us at our festive Costume Prize Masquerade Ball held at the same fabulous grand ballroom on Arlington Boulevard in Fairfax, VA. Enjoy great live dance music by two great bands: The Continentals and Steschner's Edelweiss Band, playing a wide variety of dance music, including dixieland, waltzes, polkas, sambas, and other Karnival, Latin and ballroom dances. Savor delicious German food specialties, German and domestic beer and wine, soft drinks, and champagne.

    Concert 155th Anniversary of the Washington Sängerbund!
    Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 7 pm - "Brahms Liebeslieder" Spring Concert.

    The Washington Sängerbund presented its 155th Anniversary Concert with music by Brahms, Johann Strauss, Jr. and other composers under the baton of Maestro Mariano Vales in the beautiful Auditorium of the Scottish Rites Center, 2800 Sixteenth Street, NW, Washington, DC.
    It was followed by an elegant reception in the Ballroom of the Center, catered by our own Austrian chef Siegfried and music for dancing by "DJ Wayne Halfstep Miller - Music for all occasions".

    Concert June 2, 3, & 4, 2006 - The 49th National Sängerfest of the Nord Östlicher Sängerbund was held at the Lancaster Host Resort & Conference Center, Lancaster, PA, with the Lancaster Liederkranz as host chorus.
    The Washington Sängerbund gave a choral presentation on Friday evening and participated with the mass chorus on Saturday in the Saengerfest Concert.
