If you are new to Usenet newsgroups, these FAQs should provide you with enough information to enable you to get started. Whilst there is some jargon in them, I have tried to explain everything, though not necessarily in the place where it first appears. However, if you're not sure about anything then please don't hesitate to ask!
Welcome to the frequently asked questions (FAQs) for the Sunderland AFC Usenet newsgroups alt.sports.soccer.sunderland and uk.sport.football.clubs.sunderland. Regular pointers to this website are posted on the newsgroups, and the full FAQs are posted regularly to both groups. These FAQs are updated by Dave Hillam.
Both newsgroups are devoted to the discussion of Sunderland Association Football Club. They are unmoderated, which means that there are no restrictions on who can post messages and replies to the groups. Sunderland fans from all over the world post here, and a lot more subscribe to the group for news but do not post (commonly known as "lurkers").
You will find that the regulars who post in both groups are a friendly, decent and tolerant bunch - in other words Sunderland supporters - and while we are passionate about our club we welcome anyone who wants to enter into constructive discussion. We would recommend that anyone new to the group takes a little time to "lurk" and get the flavour of the discussions, and that you also take the time to read through these FAQs.
