Meet Our Club Officers

President, LuAnne Williams

Luanne Williams, former president of the club and current secretary and test chairman calls San Antonio her home these days, but actually she is from Maryland.  She was born in Baltimore and reared in Linthicum, Maryland.  After high school, she attended Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland.  She was graduated with a BA from that  institution with a double major in Economics and Music.  She plays piano, oboe an percussion instruments.  While living in the Washington, D.C. area with her husband, Bernard, who was a pilot in the U.S. Navy, LuAnne earned an MA in Economics from George Mason University of Fairfax, Virginia.

The couple moved to San Antonio when Bernard was given the job of Naval Recruiter for South Texas.  LuAnne taught Economics at Our Lady of the Lake University from 1983 to 1990.  Presently, she is the Pre-School and Elementary  Coordinator for Religious Education at St. Francis af Assisi Catholic Church.

She has two children, Jessica, who is twelve and in the 7th grade, and David, who is nine and in the 4th grade.  Both attend St. George's Episcopal School and both are figure skaters.  Jessica recently passed the Pre-Juvenile Moves in the Field and Free Skate tests.  David  is planning to take the Pre-Preliminary tests in the next few months.  They are coached by Laura Pizzelanti and Nick Apter.

LuAnne skates herself, and with the exception of having a few weeks of lessons in College, she is entirely self-taught, having learned on a nearby pond and creek as a child.  She has never competed.
Prior to becoming President of the SAFSC in June of 1999, LuAnne served as Director and Test Chair of the SAFSC fro 1998-1999.
