Children Treated to Christmas Party December 7, 2004 Nearly forty less advantaged children from area elementary schools were treated to a Christmas party complete with food, sing-alongs, gifts and more, all sponsored by the Saginaw Downtown Lions Club. The kids were also entertained by longtime Christmas Party magician, Maurice Cotter. Later, Santa and the Lions Club Lion arrived to hand out gifts, which consisted of clothes and games, and each child was given a bag filled with fruit and some candy. The Children's Christmas Party, having been held for over 60 years, is the event all of the members work toward as funds are raised throughout the year to hold the December event. This year's party was held at Peace Lutheran Church on Adams in Saginaw. Donations are accepted year-round for the Christmas Party and can be sent to: Saginaw Downtown Lions Club P.O. Box 2211 Saginaw, Michigan 48605-2211 Please specify your donation to be used for the Children's Christmas Party. |
