Sailor Moon: Legend of the Torn
Part Two: Wings of Gold
Chapter One
“Ami...oh Aaaaammmmmiiiiiiiii....” Ami, still transformed, slowly opened her eyes,
afraid of what she would find. As she began to filter out the images displayed before her, she
promptly closed them again.
“Mina, GO AWAY.” A hand shook her shoulder slightly. “Grr. What?!” She finally sat
up, wincing in pain in the process. Her rib cage seemed to have a few cracks, as well as plenty of
burns on her arms and upper legs. “What is it Mina?!” The blond girl crouched down beside
Ami. Her hair fell over her suit, hiding the cuts and bruises that she had received in the last few
hours. The two had met up in a dungeon, where Mina had been in good condition compared to
Ami, who still drifted in and out of consciousness.
“Ami, we’re leaving.” That perked her up.
“What do you mean?” she whispered to Mina.
Venus pointed at the bars. “I mean, we’re being moved.” There were tons and tons of
escorts outside, all mean and serious looking. Mina helped Mercury to her feet, and the two
slowly limped to the entrance of their cell. There, one of the guards began to unlock the door.
“Careful, men. Remember what the others did to some of the other guards,” one said from
the back of the group. Mercury and Venus glanced at each other, a slight smile playing on Venus’
lips. Eight guards entered the cell, four for each scout.
“Our friends must have stirred up quite a bit of trouble,” Venus snickered. One of her
guards’ faces contorted into a defiant sneer.
“They were...well punished,” he retorted.
“And you think that will stop us?” The guard punched Venus for her defiance. She
grimaced in pain, but never stopped her triumphant smiling. The guards, shaken by her
confidence, hastily pulled the two out and down a corridor.
After about five minutes of walking, they stopped at a door. Inside were five cells, one
holding a large group, and all the others holding only about four each. Mercury saw Mars and
Jupiter in the one on the end, farthest from the door. Surprisingly enough, they were led to it.
“Mercury! Venus!” Mars cried, running to the front of the cell. Jupiter stood from where
she sat in the shadows, and a third figure rose next to her. The guards unlocked the cell warily,
and pushed the two scouts inside.
“I hope the accomidations are to your liking,” one sneered.
Venus glanced around the cell. “You know, with some yellow curtains here and there, you
could really brighten this place up.” A few of the guards smirked, and then they all exited, leaving
two outside the doors.
“So,” Mercury said, turning to her comrades, “how are you doing?”
Mars smirked and Jupiter groaned. “You had to ask,” Mars muttered. She then turned to
the shadows and fixed her eyes on the third figure. “Dimitri, come on out.” From the shadows
walked Dimitri, running a hand through his dirty blond hair. Mars turned back to Mercury and
Venus. “Guys, this is Dimitri. He’s been in here awhile and is helping us out.” Jupiter pinched
Venus, and the hearts in her eyes immediately disappeared.
“Well, is this everybody?” he asked. “The whole team, minus Sailor Moon and Tuxedo
Mask?”
“No, we’re still missing Luna and Artemis,” Mercury replied.
“Plus Sailor Soul and Tuxedo Knight,” Venus added. All raised their eyebrows at her.
“Okaaaay, so who are these four?” Dimitri asked, confused.
“Yeah, who are they?” Jupiter added.
“Oh,” Venus said, blushing. “I guess you don’t know, now do you? Luna and Artemis
are our talking cats...”
“Talking cats?”
“...And Sailor Soul and Tuxedo Knight are two new allies. Sailor Soul seems to be really
powerful, and Knight is just like Tuxedo Mask.”
“Oh,” the other four breathed at once.
“Talking cats?” Dimitri repeated. “Why couldn’t you guys be normal super heroes?” The
four scouts all sent threatening looks in his direction. He sighed. “Well, I guess we’d better get to
planning.”
“Why do you say that?” Mercury asked.
“It’s what you always do, isn’t it? Plan plan plan, all night long.” The scouts looked at
each other and nodded their heads in agreement. “Haven't gotten a good night’s sleep since you
started showing up,” he mumbled as they sat down and discussed enthusiastically. “Surrounded
by girls and all they want to do is talk.”
“MOVE MOVE MOVE!!” Matthew yelled at Nathan. The two rushed forward at Dannon,
who was smirking as he twisted the knife in Asia’s body. Solon stood behind, frozen in shock.
After a moment of staring, Sailor Moon rushed forward to join Matthew and Nathan. The three
plowed into Dannon, sending him flying away from her. Asia fell backwards into Solon’s arms,
the dagger still deep within her. His eyes glanced over her frantically as she took in staggering
breaths. Tuxedo Mask and Knight fell to their knees beside him, having arrived only a few
moments before.
“Asia? Asia? Can you hear me?” he asked. She blinked a few times, then gulped down
the pain. As the three men watched in awe, she raised her hands to the dagger and grasped it
tightly. With a soft grunt, she pulled the bloody dagger from her body and let it fall beside her.
After closing her eyes for a moment, she shakily began to move her legs in an effort to stand.
“No, you shouldn’t move,” Knight said.
“Solon...back home...,” she stammered. He nodded his head, then moved to her side and
slowly picked her up.
Sailor Moon shook her head from where she was buried underneath three large men.
Suddenly, all the weight was off of her, and Nathan bent down and helped her to her feet. “You
okay?” he asked.
“Yeah, sure,” she said unsteadily. Then she remembered about Asia. “Asia?! Asia!” She
ran to where Solon held her, ready to take her back to the mansion. Her silver gown was
drenched in blood, and her eyes closed tiredly. She noticed huge, angelic wings hanging limply
from her back, but they disappeared almost as soon as she saw them. “Asia?” she whispered.
Solon took a longing glance at her, then turned away and consulted with Matthew and
Nathan. “What should we do?” he asked.
“She needs to get back to the Dark Realm. She’ll have the best chance of healing there,”
Matthew said.
Nathan tapped his finger on his chin. “But, if we go ahead and take her back, Kurushimi
will for sure find out, and she’ll attack while Asia’s at her worst.”
“Plus, if we take her back, Kurushimi’s army will kick into full force mode. It’d be all out
war again.”
“So we keep her here until she’s somewhat better,” Nathan finished up.
“Umm, hello? Remember I’m still here, and she’s not very...well...light,” Solon piped.
Nathan popped him over the head. “Don’t complain. Come on, we’ll go back to the
mansion.” The three jumped off, the two elders moving at lightning speed, with Solon just a little
behind.
“Serena, are you okay?” Tuxedo Mask asked, bending down to her. Tuxedo Knight bent
down as well, and they both helped her to her feet.
“Yeah, yeah,” she muttered, staring off after the retreating warriors. She turned back to
her comrades with a quizzical face. “What was up with those wings?”
Solon, Asia, Matthew and Nathan landed silently on the roof of the mansion. Although the
building itself was huge, the land it was on was not, and it was surrounded by smaller houses.
Carefully they jumped to the ground and took Asia inside. She was awake, but her breath was
slow and erratic. Her silver gown was drenched in blood, and it ran down her limp arms.
“So what now?” Solon asked.
“Like we said before, we wait,” Matthew answered. Asia pulled lightly on Solon’s shirt.
The three bent down so they could hear her.
“I...need to...speak with...Sailor Moon,” she rasped out. Matthew nodded his head
slowly, then with a small frown left to go and find the Scout and her Tuxedos.
Sailor Moon rested her head in her palms and sighed. “I just don’t get it. I can’t see Asia
as being this Sailor Soul. I mean, Asia’s...well...nice, and Sailor Soul is basically a bitch.”
“I wonder what’s going on?” Tuxedo Mask asked.
“This is just a theory, Sailor Moon, but what if Asia became friends with you because you
are Sailor Moon? What if she just wanted to get close to you? For all we know, she is the one
who took the Scouts,” Tuxedo Knight suggested. “After all, how many times did she fight the
guy who took them?”
“No, she’s not working for them. She fought them when Jupiter was taken, and took a hit
for me when Mercury was taken. There must be something else.”
There was a knock on Darien’s door. The three shifted back to civilian form, before
Serena rose to get the door. Once she was out of earshot, Jacob whispered, “Ooh, she’ll be a nice
little homemaker too.”
“I heard that!” she yelled from the foyer. Sighing, she turned back to the door and opened
it. On the other side stood one of Asia’s friends, Matthew, she thought. He smiled and she just
let him in, not bothering to deny who she really was. “We have a visitor!” she called back to the
guys.
“So what brings you to this side of town?” Jacob asked once they were all seated.
Matthew smiled a little. “Asia, actually. She says we need your help.”
“You don’t believe her?” Darien asked.
“No, not really. We’ve lived thousands of years without you.”
“How is she doing?” Serena questioned.
“Oh, you mean the wound? It’ll be gone in a day or two. She’s a quick healer. Anyway,
she wants you guys to come and see her; I think she has some things to tell you.” The three
remaining Earthlings looked at each other and shrugged.
A few minutes later, the three stood at the door of a huge mansion. ‘This has to be at least
three times bigger than my house,’ Serena thought. Matthew opened the door to reveal an even
more extravagant foyer. He led them to the back of the house, into a room where they saw Solon,
Nathan, and Asia, lying on the bed. Serena’s heart broke as she saw Asia manage a small, painful
smile.
“Hi,” she sighed. “Bit of a surprise, huh?” Surprisingly enough, she sat up in bed
without wincing at all. Jacob saw Darien give a suspicious look at the action, but he didn’t say
anything. He decided to start the conversation.
“So, what brings us to you?” he asked in his normal weird Jacobian way.
“I want your help,” she answered bluntly. “I have an enemy that I can’t defeat, and I think
your assistance would be invaluable.”
“What do we get out of it?” Darien asked coldly.
“Darien, we don’t always have to get something in return,” Serena whispered harshly.
“We aren’t exactly for hire.”
“He’s smart,” Nathan said, moving behind Asia. “You may be right; they may be what we
need to tip the scales.”
“So,” Asia questioned, “why do you suddenly not trust me? Three days ago we were
getting along great.”
“Easy. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that you aren’t like other people. Any of
you. You fight differently from us; you have less mercy. Although I must admit, you did a great
job of hiding who you really were,” he replied.
“He’s very smart,” Nathan added.
“So,” Asia said, sitting up straighter in her bed. “You want to know about us?”
Jacob smiled mischievously. “Do tell.”
* * *
“Come on, Ami! Trust me, we won’t get caught!” the young Princess Serena said. She
grabbed Princess Ami’s arm and pulled her along after Lita, up ahead.
“Serena, I don’t know,” Ami said reluctantly.
“Hey, we’re all in this together, right? After all, Mina and Rei’s prank was on all of us.”
“Yes, but can’t we just forget about it? No one got hurt.”
“It’s the pricple of the thing,” Lita said, coming up behind them and mispronouncing
‘principle.’
They snuck up behind the two unsuspecting princesses, who were sitting on the edge of a
fountain, six inches away from their wet fate. The three attackers divided up; Serena snuck
behind Rei, out of her line of sight, and Ami and Lita did the same right behind Mina. The three
stopped suddenly, each spotted by the person opposite. Rei winked at Ami and Lita, and Mina
gave a subtle smile to Serena. The three snuck forward, and Serena dropped her fingers so only
Ami and Lita could see her. One, two,
“Aaagggghhhh!”
The two princesses tumbled over into the fountain behind them. The broke the surface,
sputtering, to find Serena rolling on the ground, Lita clutching her sides with laughter, and even
Ami was giggling.
“That was NOT funny!” a five-year-old sopping wet Rei said. She huffed and put her
hands on her hips and glared at Serena, Lita, and Ami.
“Very nice,” said a sarcastic voice from behind them. The trio stopped laughing and turned
around, and even Mina stopped her hellish flailing in the fountain.
“Who are you?” Lita asked.
“Prince Darien, of Earth, milady,” he answered with flourish, bowing at the waist.
Serena, in all her glowing friendliness, bounced forward. Pointing at each one in turn, she
said, “That’s Princess Lita from Jupiter, and Ami from Mercury, Mina from Venus, and the ugly
meanie over there is Princess Rei of Mars.”
“UGLY MEANIE??!!!”
Turning his gaze to the young girl before him, knowing exactly who she was, asked, “And
who might you be?”
“Me? Oh, I’m Serena.”
“You know what I think? I think you,” he advanced on Serena, “should take a swim.” He
pounced at her, and with Lita’s help, dumped her unceremoniously in the fountain. Within
moments, the point of the game was to try and get Ami wet, who tried desperately to get away.
“Darien!” a voice called over their yelling. Darien’s head snapped up. Inside, a clock
struck four, and he quickly stumbled away in his wet clothes.
“Darien, where are you going?” Serena asked.
“I have to go to training,” he said. “I’ll see you soon, Serena. I had fun.” With that, he
turned and walked away.
Serena sniffled a few times.
“Uh oh, here it comes,” Rei muttered.
Serena began to wail loudly. “I don’t want him to go! We was having fun!” Lita splashed
over to the young princess and gave her a hug.
“Shhh, Princess, we’ll see him again,” Lita desperately tried to hush her before anyone
heard.
“Ahem.” Serena shut up, and all five princesses looked slowly and guiltily up at the
towering figure of King Cronos, Serena’s father. “Felt the need for a a midnight swim, right?”
He snapped his fingers and pointed to the ground beside him. The five girls sloshed out of the
water and stood dripping, heads bowed.
Ami leaned over slightly to whisper to Serena, “I told you we’d get caught.”
* * *
Darien, Serena, and Jacob sat on the floor, all with dumb faces. Nathan had already fallen
asleep, and Solon was about to join him. Matthew had long since gotten fed up with the
explanation, and stalked out of the room, mumbling something about ‘damn dumb-ass earthlings.’
“So basically what you’re saying is that you are from a place called the Dark Realm,
another almost-universe-type place, and a blond bimbo is trying to kick your ass and you want our
help?” Jacob asked. Darien groaned as Serena’s eyes opened wide.
“BLOND BIMBO??!!!” She stood and stalked to Jacob, who was more terrified than he
ever had been in his life. “We BLOND BIMBOS stick together!” With that, she swiped him
across the head hard enough to send him flying a few feet. “Yeah, you think this klutz is a little
weakling, but my strength is quite surprising!” she yelled at him. “Grr.” She grred and sat back
down. Jacob, quite afraid, sat down next to Asia, as if for protection.
“She’ll make it back home,” Solon mumbled before he also slipped into slumber.
Asia watched passively as the quiet, kind Serena blasted out Jacob. When she was
finished brooding, Asia began again.
“Yes, well, like I was saying, I do need your help. I’m asking you to do something
you’ve never really done; this fight will be unlike any other you’ve been through.”
“How so?” Darien asked.
“Well, only one time have you seen anything like a war, back in the Silver Millenium.
This is a bit different from what you saw then, too. I have troops, generals and such, so it is a bit
more organized than what you saw.”
“Are you saying the Moon Kingdom wasn’t organized?” Serena blurted out.
“Yes,” was her answer. “If you decide to go, you will have to learn how to fight with a
sword. It is all almost completely hand to hand. And there is a large chance you won’t come
back.”
“Is that your argument to convince us?” Jacob asked skeptically.
“No, here’s the convincing part. I believe Kurushimi, my rival, is the one that took the
Scouts. We beat her, we get them back. Also, if I lose the war, Kurushimi will come to Earth and
kill you all, or she will put you into slavery. If that happens, my suggestion is to kill everyone on
the planet. Her ideas of slavery are a bit harsh,” Asia explained.
“Big deal. That’s what we hear every time there’s a big bad enemy. What makes you
think we can’t defeat her if we get her by herself? We defeated Beryl and the Wiseman like that.
As long as I’ve got the Silver Crystal, it’ll be a cinch,” Serena said.
Asia looked over at Nathan, who suddenly flew crashing and screaming out the window he
was next to. Solon woke up and watched the episode passively. The three earthlings jumped to
their feet, and Matthew poked his head in.
“That is a minute portion of my power,” Asia said. She pulled out a crystal, slightly larger
than the Imperium Silver Crystal, and slightly brighter. “This is called the Illusion Crystal. You’ll
find it has many characteristics like your Silver Crystal. In fact, the two are exactly alike, except
this one is more powerful.”
“How can that be?” Serena asked.
Nathan climbed back into the room through the window. “Asia, why’d you do that?” he
asked.
“Just wanted to make a point. And I don’t like you sleeping when I’m talking.” Solon
laughed and looked over at Asia, memory tugging at the back of his mind.
ÝI will protect you from all around youÝ
ÝI will be here don’t you cryÝ
The memory was so close to surfacing. That song, he had heard it before. Solon shook
his head, trying to remember the rest. He stood shakily and made his way out of the room. Asia
looked at him curiously, but did not follow. She simply allowed him his space to figure out
exactly what he had just remembered.
“I’m still trying to get past the whole realm theory,” Darien said.
“It’s just a strange idea,” Asia began. “The universe is not actually a universe, it is a
realm. The word ‘universe’ is just the name of it, and it has been for thousands of years. The
Dark Realm is another realm, the one that I’m from. There are a few different realms, probably
about seven or so. And then thousands of galaxies within, and so on. The history of the
universe, well that’s another story.”
“Well?”
“Another story for another time,” she finished. Serena sighed and sat back against the
wall. She glanced at the darkening skies outside. “This is what I’m asking: I need your help. I
need you to come with me to the Dark Realm to battle Kurushimi. Like I said, it will be unlike
anything you’ve ever faced before. And if you go, you’ll need to go now.”
Darien looked at Serena. “It’s your call,” he said softly.
She looked up at him. “And why is that?”
“You’re the leader.”
“Of the Scouts. You’re not a Scout.”
“You’re the Princess.”
“You’re the Prince.”
“You hold the Silver Crystal,” Jacob chimed in. “That puts you way up there.”
Serena looked down at her hands contemplating the consequences of either staying or
going. Slowly she raised her eyes to Asia’s. “What will we tell my parents?”
Seven warriors stood in a secluded portion of a park in Juuban. One of them turned to
another and asked, “Are you ready?” The second nodded her head gravely, and the first smiled.
She turned away from the group and with a wave of her hand, a black portal appeared in front of
her. “Then it is time.” The second stepped up to join the first, her eyes full of cautious
anticipation. Slowly, the two stepped from one world to another, the other five soon following.
