Hayao Miyazaki's Works Hayao Miyazaki is one of the greatest animators and directors in Japan. Miyazaki started his career in 1963 as an animator. He directed his first film, Lupin III, in 1979. From there he went on to make other amazing world reknowned films such as Nauiscaa of the Valley of the Wind, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away, which by the way won an Oscar for Best Animated Film.
