Each trickle recalls love's promise. Clean, clear; uncomplicated by any sediment from the past. On the left, all those hot bursts of enthusiasm, passion and irresistable force bursting through the emotional dams. On the right, a slowly gathering force which sparkles with its own light. Original amazement, words tumbling over each other at times, punctuated with passages of soothing rest and quiet trust. Both sides full of moments which cannot last yet last forever in timeless nows.
As I watch, a car goes past and the water on the left suddenly rushes down with a force, propelled by an outpouring from above. It splashes down on the sill and spatters back up the glass, gobbling up smaller drops and new trickles in the process. The stream on the right comes to a standstill and forms itself into new drops for the next lover to find.
I wait awhile, music dying in the room behind me and moonlight slides softly through the silver clouds. The rain patters out and a light wind charms a song from the trees across the street. Looking out through the reflections, I see the leaves dance and I breathe in the essence of life anew. And from a distance I sense a woman, my muse, charmed by this naïvete. And I feel you smile, warming my heart.
