Synopsis from the jacket of  “Midnight Predator”

Though she was once a happy teenager with a wonderful family and a full life, Turquoise Draka. Is now a hunter, committed to no higher purpose than making money and staying alive. In a deadly world of vampires, shape-shifters, and mercenaries, she’ll track any prey if the price is right. Her current assignment: to assassinate Jeshikah, one of the cruelest vampires in history. Her employer: an unknown contact who wants the job done fast. Her major obstacle: She’ll have to hide her strength and enter Midnight, a fabled Vampire realm, as human slave.
The disguise is difficult for Turquoise: Feigning submission forces her to confront the miserable days of slavery she endured when a handsome vampire murdered her family and forced her into his service. As a hunter, she suppressed all memory of those days, banishing weakness and sentiment, training her body and her mind to focus on her deadly work. Now, as a slave in this mythical city, she serves Jaguar, a kind master tormented by his own past. Jaguar, a vampire and slave owner, may be just the creature to release the humanity Turquoise long ago locked away.

The fourth of so far, four books, Midnight Predator is the best of Amelia’s books yet.Turquoise Draka is a hunter and member of the highly known Bruja Guild. Killing for money she is as self satisfied as possible. Then her life takes a change as she and her nemsiss, Ravyn are given a job deep in the heart of the human slave trade in the vampire world called Midnight. As she meets Jaguar, a kind trainer, memories of her own experiences continue to haunt her mind. Can Turqouise finish the job and leave with her strengths still intact.
Personally, I think this is the best of all of Amelia’s books so far. Readers can just see how far she has grown since her last books. The wording and physciatric depth taken with the characters is that of a polished author. It’s amazing that she is only 18 (correct me if I’m wrong). There are just no real words to discribe the amazing quality of the book. Not to mention that it is about 20 or so pages longer then her last, giving the readers more time to savor her amazing writing.
For the first time we get a glimpse into a world other then that surrounding New Mayhem. The world of Midnight is like that of a bad dream. Vampires have control and the humans are little more then slaves and dinner. It gives us a larger spectrum of the different lives in the vampire world of Amelia’s and with much flare. We also finally get to see a little of the shapeshifters that we have heard about in the other books. Characters I hope will be more used in her next books.
Midnight Predator not only brings us into a new world but also into a new world of characters too. Our main cahracter is Turquoise Draka. While she is darker and more adapted to death then other characters we have seen I like her. As polished of a hunter as she is there is still plenty of room for her to have a bit of mental breakdown. So again we see more views of the main character then what we first thought they were. Turquoise’s confidence, at first, seems unbreakable, but as she meets people from her past it is easy to see that her so called brick walls could fall with little coaxing. An amazingly deep character and one of my personal favorties.
Then we have Jaguar. Handsome, strong and kind. Kind? When have we seen a vampire so intouch with his human part? This is what makes Jaguar so amazing. For the first time we see the kinder side of a vampire, not just, I like you but I never show it, this is true kindness. I love it. Lol. And yet Jaguar is also so multidemensional. Turquoise isn’t the only one who tries to hide their past.
And who can forget all of our other supporting characters. Jeschikah, our resident bad girl. Nathaniel, who’s true motives don’t come out till the end. Ravyn, Turquoise’s competition for the title of Bruja’s leader. And Eric, Jaguar’s favorite slave whom he doesn’t really treat as one at all. There are of course many more characters such as Daryl, Gabriel, and so on. If new faces is what your looking for then Midnight Predator is your book. Not only are we introduced to a whole new world but also brand new lives. That is what makes it such a great book!
Now as for connectionsto Amelia’s past books this one has little if none. Amelia makes it seem so much like a new world that she doesn’t even bring in any characters to remotely tie in to the other books. The only tie I could find was a one split-second mentioning of New Mayhem. (Page 119, Paragraph 4, Line 8) A reference most people will miss it’s so quick. I’ll be sure to look for more connections but so far that is all I could dig up.
All in all this book was amzing. Mifnight Predator is the best Amelia has come up with yet. I was so blown back by it that I’m sure I’ll be reading it more then three more times. There is so much information in this one book that it’s difficult to grasp everything at once. But that is how a good book should be. You should be able to read it fifty times and still pick up something that you hadn’t seen before. I can’t wait for Amelia’s next book to come out. If Midnight Predator is any clue as to what we are going to be seeing in the future then I am so there! Keep up the amzing writing Amelia. We all love your books.
