Town of Ardar
History:

Situated on the edge of the desert, in some Sakoian's eyes, Ardar is less of a town because of its proximity to water.  This port town is home to a fishing fleet that supplies fresh fish locally, and salted fish to caravans carrying them for trade.  In addition, the grasslands to the  south allow grazing of sheep and cattle, so Ardar is one of the few Sakoian towns to provide beef.  A few areas with stands of trees supply wood to Ardar, so some of the houses are composed of wooden frames.

Buildings:

Temple of Chelad
Chelad as a provider is worshipped in Ardar.  The temple is of stone, and occupies a central position in town.

Priest’s residence
The priest’s residence, composed of stone that matches the temple, is also used as a school for those children whose parents desire them to go to school.

Lucky Catch Inn
The Lucky Catch Inn’s lower floor is built of adobe, but its upper boasts wooden frame and siding.  The Lucky Catch is owned by Ismir Diali, and he and his family tend to the guests there diligently.

Ardar Stable
An adobe structure suitable for stabling horses, donkeys or camels, the Ardar stable is owned by Ingram Diali (Ismir’s brother).

Woolgrower’s Hall
The Woolgrower’s Hall is a cooperative venture jointly owned by several shepherding families.  Within, each family has storage areas, and may use the communal spinning wheels, looms and dye tubs.  The hall is built of adobe, and has two stories.

Fish Market
The fish market is communally maintained by the fishermen of Ardar.  Each has an area for storing daily catches, and all may use the gutting and salting areas to prepare their catches.

Etho Madric, Sailmaker
Etho Madric uses local cloth to make sails.  He and his family also repair nets, as well as make rope and tents.  Their store is wooden, and reflects their wealth.

Jemarr Bakery
Keairi Jemarr and his family grind locally farmed wheat into flour (the mill is on the first floor of the building, and is often turned by the younger sons) and also bake bread, pies, and sweet treats.  This building is of stone.

Yaord Butcher
Koen Yaord is the town butcher.  This building is constructed of stone, and has a pit cellar that is used to cure meats.  Yaord’s wife Shogand uses tallow from the butchering to make candles, scented oils and soap in one section of the building.

Heladra Smithy
Awan Heladra and his wife live in the small stone smithy (upstairs).  Heladra has one apprentice, and specializes in wagon repair, as well as making harpoons for those few fishermen that brave the deeper waters.

Ulyll Basketry
Lylai Ulyll uses reeds from the shoreline to create baskets of various sizes, as well as many other wicker structures.  Her store/home is built of adobe.

Other Structures

The Docks
The docks for the fishing fleet extend out into the water.  Ardar is not truly blessed by a well-defined bay, so the docks enable larger fishing craft to be used by the locals.

Eye of Chelad
The town’s well, whether by serendipity of design or the blessing of Chelad, produces a pure fresh water supply.  Seven palm trees, planted in a semi-circle around the well, are watered by the priest of the town.
