Town of Tatris
History:

Situated not far north of Aern Noer, and close to the lands beyond the desert, Tatris is an important stop on most caravan routes.  In addition, local mines produce silver, which has become a valued trading commodity.  The lands of Aern Noer are suited for grazing sheep and caravan animals, as well as watered enough for crops of dates, wheat, nuts and a local favorite, the noerberry.  Buildings in Tatris are constructed of a local limestone rock.

Buildings:

Inn of the Six Palms
This inn, owned by Rherwa Jhaddis, is most magnificent.  When it was built, six palm trees were planted.  Since then, the palms have been carefully tended, and now are immense signs of the prosperity of Tatris.  Within, the inn’s eating rooms are comfortable, and more luxurious than most caravan towns.

Tatris Stable
The Tatris Stable is owned by Sarga Jhaddis, the younger brother of Rherwa.  Stalls here are sufficient to stable horses or camels of a caravan.

Annar Bakery
Kinda Annar and her daughter Sugi run the bakery.  They have hired a young man, Sugi’s suitor, to grind wheat for them on a wheel that is in the back room.  The Annar Bakery produces cakes, pies (both sweet and meat) and breads.

Temple of Glaewen
The temple in Tatris is dedicated to the worship of Glaewen, goddess of harvest, in addition to Edalirin.  The proximity of the oases and the ability to grow crops reminds those of Tatris of their obligation to the goddess.  Within this temple is an extraordinary altar made of interwoven stalks of wheat, which is renewed yearly in a festival celebrating the harvest.

Priest’s Residence
The priest’s residence also serves as school for those whose parents deem it important for them to learn beyond what they themselves can teach.  In addition, occasional important visitors may be housed here.

Ogmar Smithy
Andir Ogmar works in this large shop with his sons.  They specialize in the manufacture and repair of farming implements, and also attend to farrier work and repair of wagons and carts.

Farmer’s Market
Ogmar’s wife Indra is responsible for overseeing the Farmer’s Market, where individual farmers may bring produce and animals to sell.

Lutris Butcher
Saal Lutris serves many of the farmers by butchering and preserving meat.  His wife Adrea collects spices which are used in the production of many fine sausages and dried meats, which are considered to be delicacies in Tatris.  Lutris also buys animals himself, selling the product to Mirandeb for trade on the caravans, as well as in the farmer’s market.

Cloth Guild
At the cloth guild, member farmers may bring wool or cotton for carding, spinning and weaving.  Cloth produced here is often traded to Mirandeb for inclusion on caravans to distant towns.

Mirandeb Trader
Calegan Mirandeb puts together caravans to travel both into Sako’s footprint and out of it into the distant lands.  His large storehouse contains a constantly varying stock of cloth, leather, produce, dried meats, jewelry and other items that are either coming into or leaving Tatris.  Mirandeb works closely with the trader Erek Domadir  in Zhan, who happens to be his brother in law.

Afomada Textiles
Kor Afomada weaves locally spun thread of cotton, flax and wool into creative geometric patterns in his cloth.  This cloth is so colorful and the designs so intriguing that he sells as much as he can produce, both in Tatris and beyond.  Afomada’s family and two apprentices live in the back of this shop.

Vaob Goldsmith
Yrin Vaob works both gold and silver (both locally mined) into flatware, silverware, and jewelry.  His intricate wire-design jewelry is also traded to distant towns through Mirandeb.
Nydei Spices Sufa Nydei and her four children collect and sell spices from the oasis and the desert.  These spices are sought after by local users (Adrea Lutis is an important customer), and are also traded to distant towns via Mirandeb.  Sufa is widowed, her husband was a shepherd.

Other Structures

Six Palms
In the early days of the settlement of Tatris, the six palms that now ring the inn were planted.  These trees have been carefully nurtured, and now are tall, strong reminders of the green of plants before the harvest.

Tatris Well
The first well dug in Tatris, it is fairly shallow and small, though it consistently produces sweet water.

Palm Well
As Tatris grew, a second well was dug.  This well is deeper, and an almost artesian flow brings the water close to the surface.
