Life and Death
Part 1 Continued/ The Missing Cards
By: Katherine
"Missing Cards?" Li repeated, confused. "You mean there's more of them!?"
The girl pointed to Sakura and scowled. Then she raised her sceptor, making it glow. She hurled the sceptor forward and sent a great ball of energy flying, trying to zap Sakura. Sakura jumped out of the way.
"Whoa!" Sakura cried. The girl raised her sceptor to try and zap her again.
"RUN!" Madison cried, running away.
Sakura, Li, and Kero followed as fast as they could as the active Clow Card flew after them down the street. The Clow Card tried to zap them, missing them each time as they dodged every attack.
"Kero!" Sakura yelled, trying to maintain her breath as she ran. "Why didn't you bring the Clow Book with you--OW!" She stumbled. Madison helped her up and they kept running. "It got me in the leg!"
"It was too big for me to carry!" Kero said sheepishly.
"Pretty pathetic!" Madison said.
"You could've brought at least ONE card with you!" Li hollered. He looked behind him.
The Clow Card looked up at the street lamps as they began to flicker on. It was the time of day when they were turned on to give the street some light. Then she looked back at them and disappeared.
Sakura dropped to her knees and rubbed her wounded leg, "That was close..."
"Oh no, you're bleeding," Madison said, kneeling down next to her.
"No, it's OK," Sakura said. "It's nothing much, I'll be fine." Sakura stood up. "Ouch!" She stumbled, but Li caught her before she hit the ground.
"No, it's not OK," Li said. "You're hurt pretty bad. Let me help you home."
As they walked, Kero told them about the Missing Cards.
"That was one of the Missing Cards," he said. "It's extremely dangerous. By the way she looked at the sun, I suspect she only comes ou in pitch black. We have to capture it, before it does any more damage."
"But what are the Missing Cards, Kero?" Sakura asked. "You mean there are more than fifty-two cards?"
"According to my knowledge, there are ffity-four cards," Kero said.
"What cards are they?" Li asked.
"I don't even know for myself, to tell you the truth," Kero replied. "I couldn't even tell by looking at it. All I know is that the two Missing Cards were the first cards made by Clow Reed. But they turned out to be so dangerous that he sealed them away forever in a seperate Clow Book. All I know is that one is used for good, while the other is used for evil. The card we saw is the evil one, because it hurt Sakura. Somehow, they manged to release themselves..."
"But if we don't even know what thype of cards they are, how can we catch them?" Li asked. "We don't even know their weaknesses."
"I guess we'll just have to try to figure it out when the time comes," Kero said. "We'll meet in a place where it gets really dark at night. We have to work together on this one."
" What about the park?" Madison suggested."When it's closed at night, there aren't any lights on there."
"Perfect," Kero said.
"We'll have to sneak out late at night," Li said. "How about midnight?"
"I can bring my camera and watch!" Madison cried happily. Sakura and Li sweatdropped.
They reached Sakura's house once again.
"We'll, guess I'll see you guys," Sakura said. Then she turned to Li and grinned.
"Can't wait," Li said, smiling back. He waved and walked away.
"See you at midnight tomorrow," Madison said, walking down the street the opposite way of Li to her own home. Then Sakura limped back into her house in pain and tiptoed up to her room to avoid Kero from being seen.
"Kero, what should I tell Tori and Dad about my leg?" Sakura asked. "They'll notice it for sure..."
"Just say you fell when you were roller-blading," Kero suggested. "How does it feel?"
"It hurts a lot..." Sakura replied, groaning. "Kero, I don't feel well. I think it's doing something to me..."
"That zap might have some effect on you, Sakura," Kero said worried. "It's four o' clock. Try to get SOME sleep, at least. Hopefully you'll feel better in the morning."
"Yeah, hopefully..."

Sakura woke up. For some reason, she began to feel severe pain all over her body. "Kero! Kero, where are you!?" she cried.
Kero, who was curled up in a ball at the end of her bed, jumped up in a panic. "What? What is it?"
"Kero--my leg--it hurts...it hurts all over!"
Kero gasped. He didn't know what to do. "OK, Sakura...Calm down. Does it hurt bad?"
"Kero...it hurts!" Sakura began to cry hysterically. "Kero, whats happening to me? It hurts so badly..."
Kero was silent as he watched the girl crying in pain. He looked upset. He wascompletely helpless, with nothing to do. There was no way he could wake up Sakura's family, or they would know about him. "Sakura, try to fight it..."
Sakura screamed in pain. She held her head in her hands and screamed loudly. "My head--it hurts! AAAAHH!!"
The bedroom door burst open. Kero flew under Sakura's bed to avoid being seen. It was Tori.
"Sakura!" he yelled, running to her. "Sakura whats wrong?"
"My head hurts...MY HEAD!!" Sakura screamed in pain even louder. The pain was great that she passed out.
"DAD!" Tori hollered. "Dad, come quick! It's Sakura--she's hurt!"
Aiden ran in the room. "Sakura!" He ran by her side and shook her. "Tori, what happened!?"
"I don't know--she just said her head hurt and passed out!"
Aiden picked up Sakura in his arms and shook her. "Sakura wake up...Please, wake up!" He looked at Tori. "Tori--get the phone and call an ambulance. We have to get her to the hospital now."
Tori obeyed and ran downstairs while Aiden tried to wake Sakura up.
Kero listened to what was going on as he hid under the bed. "Oh no," he whispered.
"Sakura... please be all right."
After a few moments, he heard sirens.
