Professional Experiences - Teacher

1982-Present: Teaching strings (Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass Violin) to Elementary School students, New Orleans Public School System.
1978: Returned to New Orleans Public School System Sept as Special Education Music Teacher (4 yrs.)
1976 - 1977: Became coordinator of Student affairs for the Urban League Street Academy, New Orleans, LA.
1973 - 1976: Played and recorded with own group, "The Soul Machine" while studying in Nashville, TN.
1973: Taught Band and Strings, in the New Orleans Public School System.
1964 - 1970: Began teaching private music lessons, shop and leather craft at North Country School, Lake Placid, NY.
1962 - 1964: Taught Gen. Music, Strings and Piano at Arkansas A.M. College, Pine Bluff, Ark.
1958 - 1962: Began teaching strings/piano in 1960 at Xavier University, New Orleans.
Graduated January, 1962.

Professional Experiences - Musician

1965: Started own band, and since has played and/or recorded with Sam & The Soul Machine, featuring Aaron & Cyril Neville, Allen Toussaint,Deacon John, James Rivers, Johnny Adams, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Etta James, Earl King, James Taylor, The Neville Brothers, Wayne Cochran, Clem Easterling, Mylon Leferve, The Dixie Kups, Wanda Rouzan, Marva Wright, Lady B.J., Juanita Brooks, and many others.
1963: Began playing and arranging for the Clyde Kerr Big Band.
1956: Entered Xavier University in Music Therapy at the age of 15.
1943: Began playing in school band at age 4 (J.A. Craig Elementary, New Orleans) and played most instruments throughout school years.

Gigs of Interest

Currently performing and recording with Sam Henry and Associates, featuring Ms. Sandra Richards, vocalist/actress, The Wardell Quezergue Big Band, Marva Wright, The Wild Magnolia Indians, and Dave Bartholomew.



Every Year: New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, performed at the Dew Drop Inn Revisited.
August 19 - 31, 2002: Headlining jazz organist for First Annual Jazz in Tokyo concert, accompanied by the Bob Saito Group.

April 26 - May 26, 2002: Music Director for Dinah Was: The Dinah Washington Story, starring Sandra Richards (Henry); music performed by Sam Henry & Associates.

November 2 - 4, 2001: Musical Director/Band Leader for the Musical, "SIMPLY IRMA": THE IRMA THOMAS STORY (Held over for several weeks).

April 2 - 9, 1999: New Orleans to Mexico "Mexican Cruise".
April 13, 1999: Montreal Jazz Festival - Performed with James Andrews, the "Satchmo of the Ghetto", and "Trombone Shorty".
October 9, 1999: (New Orleans) City Celebration 99, with Billy Preston and The Wardell Quezergue Big Band.
July 27, 2000: Lincoln Center (New York), with The Wardell Quezergue Big Band.
August 3 - 9, 2000: Hokkaido Jazz Festival, Kushiro, Japan, as featured co-artist.
1995 - 1997: Performed locally in New Orleans with The Alvin Jacques International Trio Plus.
1977 - 1995: Toured the U.S.A., England and Europe with Richie Havens, and recorded with Patti LaBelle, served as Musical Director for the highly successful stage shows "Where The Girls Were" (1� years) and "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill"(4-6 months), starring Wanda Rouzan.
