The seeds of the trio were planted in Columbus, Ohio. Gary & Jay grew up as close friends, as well as being second cousins. Having been surrounded by music their entire lives, it was inevitable that singing would be their field of dreams. Joe Don, who comes from Picher, Oklahoma, got his taste for country from neighboring Grove, Oklahoma. When the lead singer of Jay & Gary’s group wasn’t able to be there, they asked Joe to sit in. Before the end of the first note, the guys knew they had something that was identifiably meant to be.
Rascal Flatts has created a fun lively album filled with great melodies and mesmerizing harmonies. “You”, which was being held for Tim McGraw, is my favorite song. The guys came across this song and were told that if Tim didn’t cut it by 2 pm - it was theirs! With a positive message and harmonization that could stand on it’s own, “You” gives love a good name. Having never heard their first album I found myself leaving skid marks on my voyage to purchase it. With all the different sounds of country coming at us from all directions, let me be the first to direct you down the sunny side of the road; Melt is definitely going to do just that!
