Cartoonist At Full Speed...
BACK
A REAL passionate of motorcycles is Julio Fairlie,  Silva, one of the best cartoonist in the business, and probabaly one of the pioneers of the motorcycle performance tests.
This Peruvian cartoonist nicknamed "El Flaco" did his first rally on a motorcbike to the imperial city of Cuzco in 1969, today, after retirement from "Ultima Hora", he has decided to do another journey, this time to Cajamarca, where his son Tommy works, but he's passing through Cuzco first, where, acording to what he said, his good friend Enrique Vargas Diaz, who is a Big authority as a motorist in the archeological capital of America (Cuzco), will be expecting him.

"This time, in spite of my 50 years of age, IŽll be riding, instead of the Harley-davidson, a 350cc Honda, this bike is much more ductile  and works better on the mud and on unpaved roads. It is well known that in this time of the year the rain makes traveling pretty difficult, but that's why this is an adventure, what do you think?" said the popular "flaco".

Fairlie is one of those people who, in spite of having a car, uses his motorcycle. About this he says:
" With only 10 soles I avoid the trouble of parking space, the annoyance of public transportation, fighting with the cab drivers, etc. I have a pleasent trip and above all, I avoid all these things. As you may understand, at 50 I donŽt  want to put up with all these things" said "el flaco".

Owner of a car with "white tag" (special legal advantages) fairlie prefersa to use his motorbike, Besides fairlie, has a son who has a Honda 100XL on which he  goes out to the sand dunes every weekend. But he doesn't want to lend his father this motorbike, he said that if he turns around on him he could go to Arequipa on it!

Fairlie has planned his rally for the second half of Febuary, we hope that later he'll tell us about this new adventure. before leaving he said:
"You must know that the maintenance of the motorbike is my greatest concern for these performance tests, but I think that with a bit of good will IŽll be back in Lima by the end of febuary and IŽll tell you all about the "new" Peru".
