Tempera painting was a favorite activity of all three grade levels.

My schedule included a lengthy prep period, but there was rarely a day that students weren't in the room painting with brush, sponge, or hand!
Many students enjoyed the "Jackson Pollock approach" to making art, expressively throwing paint on their canvas
(or long white piece of paper), while other students preferred a more representational approach as seen in this flower.
One activity that students loved was "Free Draw" - a period when students were allowed to paint anything that popped into their creative minds.  Besides activities with set guidelines and expectations, we also participated in these imaginative exercises in creative thinking and art making!
