K-19: The Widowmaker

Harrison Ford as Captain Alexei Vostrikov
Liam Neeson as Captain Mikhail Polenin
Director is Kathryn Bigelow
Review Date is July 29, 2002

Thriller-Captain Mikhail Polenin is a "popular" captain. He's well liked and has a "fan club", so to speak. With Russia's new sub, K-19, he is not declared captain, but stern captain Alexei Vostrikov is instead. He makes the sub run drills every second of every day, and no one likes him. But now the core is overheated and the sub is subject to radiation poisoning. Will they survive?

7/10-A thrilling sub movie. I found Liam Neeson (who I still think looks like Robin Williams) to be quite convincing, but Harrison's accent came and went. His character was surprisingly unlikeable. However, I found the movie in whole very thrilling and entertaining, but the ending was kind of slow. I only have those two stars listed because the other members weren't memerable. The tenseness of this film almost granted it an eight.
Rated PG-13 for thrillingness.
