Action-Peter Parker is a geek who has never been liked, except by his only friend Harry and his Aunt May and Uncle Ben. After a field trip to a spider museum-laboratory where he is bit by a stray mutated spider (why not?), Peter finds out that he has some super power things-i.e. being able to climb walls, shooting out a web, etc. Mary Jane, the girl next door, pays no attention to him, but Peter desprately tries to get her attention. After showing off his powers in a wrestling match, he decides to use his spider powers to help good. However, a mysterious green goblin (named Green Goblin) wrecks havoc on the city. Now Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, must try to stop the Green Goblin from destroying the city while trying to get Mary Jane to his liking.

8/10-A very good movie. Tobey Maguire is great as the garbed superhero, and Willem Dafoe reminds me of William H. Macy (that's good). This has all the special effects money can buy, and then some. Spider-Man may have one of the best kisses in movie history, and the best use of the word "oh". It also has some added humor, just to appeal to everyone.
Rated PG-13 for action violence, spooky voices, and kids in peril.
