THE CLASSROOM
This was a multi idea project that is still changing with my moods.  I have always enjoyed Egyptology and while never having studied it seriously, I have a general rough idea what it is all about.  At first I thought I would make a bedroom in my dollhouse with an Egyptian theme, but I could not get it together to my satisfaction, so the idea was shelved for a while.

I have a lot of Skipper dolls that I do not have their original clothing for and therefore could not slot them in with the rest of my dolls, so I though I would put them in school studying Egyptology themselves.

The first picture below is a rough setting that I put up in a small shelf space at the end of my passage.  I was never happy with it there as the ceiling was too low.  I have now moved it and the pictures following this next one, show the classroom in its new setting.
My husband cut the wood sides for the desks for me as well as the seats and shelves for the bookcase along the back wall.  I cut and scored thick card for the opening desks.  Each student desk is crammed with stationery - they all have glue sticks, coloring in pens or pencils or crayons, writing books of all sizes, pencils, rulers and other paraphernalia in their desks.  You can see the student in the back desk is sneaking a peak at her magazine instead of concentrating on the lesson.  It is casual day at this school hence the lack of uniform (Oneday I will get round to making them each a little uniform.)  The teacher is a 1979 Pretty Changes Barbie dressed in a pak outfit from the 1980s.  Her desk is from the 1980s Sindy range and her chair is a Mattel item of furniture.  The teacher's desk is also filled with the necessary stationery as well as some confiscated stuff the girls have tried to sneak into class.  The goodies along the top of the book case are all objects resembling stuff that could have come from Egypt at some stage - the girls had to bring something from home to decorate their classroom.  The Papyrus pictures on the wall were all lifted from various places on the net and some were copied from other sources.  The Rosetta stone is a photocopy from an old encyclopedia, pasted onto a rollec piece of clay.

Unfortunately my photographs always seem to come out blurry, but you can still see the general gist of things.  If there is anything specific you would like to know about this scene, please let me know.

This scene has been changed drastically since these pics were taken.  I now have 8 Stacie dolls sitting in the desks and have put in quite a few more "Egyptian" artifacts.  And they also have a Barbie life-size skeleton standing in the back corner.  There are also a few more books filling the bookshelf.
