THE EN-SUITE BATHROOM
This bathroom stands alongside the Cloud 9 Bedroom as its enSuite.  The only thing that really ties the two rooms together is the white fluffy carpeting.

This room is very small - the dimensions being the standard 40cm high, 55cm deep and only 30cm wide.  I had the devil of a job trying to get the decor of this room just right.  I eventually painted the walls white and found they were too stark for my liking.  Then I sponged over with quite a dark dusty rose pink and found that this treatment made the room too dark and poky.  I then sponged another layer of white over the top and this finally worked for me.  I put a 2cm thick by 20cm wide piece of styrofoam at the back of the room to make a step up for the bath area and then covered the whole floor with the fluffy white carpeting - this immediately brightened the room.

At first I arranged the furniture so that the toilet and its unit as well as the shelf unit faced the front to create a sort of divide between the bath area and the rest of the bathroom, but then found that this made the whole room look dark again.  I finally arranged the room as you can see in the photographs.
Then I added the mirror on the back wall and the very narrow shelving to display some of her goodies - at this stage, miniature perfume bottles filled with colored water.

The bath is a Barbie original - it was first available around 1993 - and has a manual pump mechanism that pumps water from the bath, up thru a pipe and out of the shower head at the top of the pipe.  Unfortunately tho, when I got it, the pipe was missing and I couldn't find a decent replacement, so I merely removed most of the (i.m.o) unsightly fittings and added some plain white water pipes that look a little more realistic anyway.  The basin is also a Barbie original, but I removed the mirror and added a shelf in its place.  I am going to put up a mirror above the basin at some stage - I am waiting until I find the right color fabric to make a mirror surround.  The unit above the toilet is a Barbie original, but the toilet itself is one of those gimmick loos that squirt water out of the bowl when the lid is lifted.  I painted the toilet white as it was a really horrible blue to start with and the seat a light pink.  (the lid is awaiting a paint job at the moment).  Although you cannot see it, there is a "covered" roll of "loo paper" on top of the cistern - this was made from the back end of one of those very fat khoki pens.  The other shelf unit is a generic brand of doll furniture - one of the drawers has a broken handle and I really don't know how to repair it successfully, so I just took it out and left a shelf space instead.  The stool and waste basket are from the same set as the wicker look shelf unit.
