Perennial plant found on the borders of fields,
in low valleys, and widely cultivated.
Erect smooth stem grows
from a enlongated taproot to the height
of 12-18 inches and bears pinnately trifoliate leaves
with oblong-obovate or linear-oblong leaflets.
Blue or purplish flowers grow in rasemes from June-August,
producing finally the characteristic spirally seed pods.
