III. HOW TO USE PASSIONFLOWER

Make an Infusion
(Passion flower tea)
Pour 1 cup boiling water over
2 teaspoons dried herb and let steep for l5 minutes.
Drink 1 cup in the evening for insomnia, or 1 cup 3 times
per day for other conditions.

Some herbalists recommend diluting an infusion with an equal amount
of water and giving half a cup for hyperactive children over
the age of six (ask your doctor first).

Overdose may cause drowsiness, hallucinations,
convulsions and muscle paralysis.
Consult a doctor if you are taking the herb for the heart.

Palpitations or angina, or if you are already taking
a sedative or tranquilizer.

ANTIOXIDANT
PASSIONFRUIT JAM RECIPE

Passion fruit is high in niacin and Vitamin C.
Recent study found that the antioxidant effect
of Passion fruit is more than that of citrus fruit.
To make Passion fruit jam, wash 24 Passion fruit,
scoop out the pulp and retain.
Add half the fruit shells to 5 cups of cold water
to a bowl and let stand overnight.
Bring the shells and water to a boil and boil
for 30 minutes, or until the shell insides are tender.
Scoop out this pulp and discard the thin paper skin that remains.
Discard this water.
Mash the pulp and place it in a jam pan with the fruit pulp and seeds.
Add 1-cup water and bring to a boil.

Add the juice of 1 lemon and 5 cups (2-½ lb.) sugar and boil briskly
until jam sets when tested.
Let cool 10 minutes before pouring into hot, dry jars.
Seal when cold.
Yields 3-½ lb. jam.
